No matter when you reached out, Chef Damu was there, whether on WhatsApp or over a call. I doubt anyone could ever find an unkind thing to say about him.
He was one of the sweetest people you could hope to meet.
Poitu vaanga, sir.
What a terrible month October has been. 💔

Keralam stands united. Communal hatred has no place here.
The recent Instagram video by a vlogger from outside the state, attempting to spread misinformation about Fort Kochi, portray our state in a negative light, and divide communities, is unacceptable.
A case has been registered, and the law will take its course. The UDF government remains committed to communal harmony and justice without fear or favour.
A New Era for God's Own Country. No room for hate. We will not allow anyone to even lay a finger on our communal harmony.

Fort Kochi and Varkala are places where cultures meet, histories intertwine and diversity thrives. Now, a vlogger peddling hate for profit seeks to paint these vibrant destinations in communal colours. Having failed to divide Keralam, the Sangh Parivar is outsourcing its hate campaign to online provocateurs. But Keralam’s secular spirit will not yield to their politics of hatred. The State Government must take strict legal action against those spreading communal enmity.

Connect the dots: Food being transformed from a matter of personal choice into a marker of cultural purity, social conformity and caste-based exclusion. And, food preferences becoming instruments of power.

For all those who are celebrating the capture of @iTIGERSHROFF ‘s shooters , here is the reality ..
In the underworld , the person who actually pulls the trigger is the most replaceable, most disposable, and therefore the cheapest component of their entire ecosystem. And that is why the shooter is paid the least because his value is physical and temporary.. Once the specific job is done, his utility is gone .
The organisation does not depend on him to think, manage, negotiate , control and maintain .
They can be compared to construction labourers of a building because the labourers neither design nor own it. In the underworld, the shooter is the labourer. The people who assign the job and decide who lives and who dies are the architects and the owners
Likewise Kings and generals too do not fight wars. Soldiers do. The entire military system is engineered so that the decision makers , remain at a distance from the actual battle. A general issues orders to go fight and the soldier is the one who kills or is killed or captured
My intention is not to put the military and the underworld in the same category but it is to explain the obvious logic of power.
By separating the risk takers from the decision makers, the system can push in prolonged violence , without the ones at the top being destroyed. if the don himself had to carry out every killing, he too could die and so he uses the disposable shooters
So in effect capturing the shooters is neither the police’s gain nor the underworld’s loss and that is why fear is still hanging like a fog on entire Bollywood

Crude oil prices hit $115 despite US claims that the Strait of Hormuz is open. Remember, Brent crude was at $72 a barrel before the US and Israel started this war against Iran on Feb 28. And if Israel and the US resume strikes now, Iran will retaliate, pumping up prices further. Saudi Arabia is already at war with its critical infra under attack. We in #India, already hit by high energy prices, are going to get affected more by this madness by netanyahu and trump. Retail inflation is already at a 22-month high. Interest rates have started rising. Petrol and diesel prices will go up further in the coming days.

PK Sir was an incredible person and a terrific colleague, he edited copies with precision and a feather-touch, never had itchy fingers - the compulsion to rewrite without any reason, as writers/reporters we trusted him, and he had a wicked sense of humour, he will be missed...
P. Krishnan, former Senior Deputy Editor of Sportstar, passed away in Chennai on October 20.
To a generation of reporters and sub-editors, PK sir, as he was affectionately known, was perhaps the most patient teacher any journalist could have asked for.
