About last night. Took my son to his first Blackhawks game. No neither me or my wife have any connections to Chicago. But through a friend my son became the biggest Blackhawk fan so we flew there to go to a game.

I remember when we dropped incoming airdrop short for @killabearsnft. It was unique at the time and still is. Got so much love from the whole NFT community at the time. True from day one, bears were built for entertainment and be played on the big screen. See you tonight NYC!

“crypto’s biggest issue has been swagless, auraless” No. The type of people that are attracted to “swag and aura” only care about themselves. They care about extracting value from the people around them 1000x more than they do about creating it. They are the exact reason why nobody wants to take this industry seriously. They are a cancer to crypto. They don’t deserve the platform or the praise they’ve been given. The greatest flex you can have is being a decent human being. Strive for humility.

I’ve spent over a decade directing narrative films and commercials, and this latest KILLABEARS short was my first fully AI narrative project. It came with plenty of challenges, but I had a lot of fun figuring it out. My biggest priority, especially with the cinematography, was making it feel believable. I wanted you watching the story and wondering, “Wait, is this AI?” There’s a familiar look to a lot of AI films: faces you start recognizing across different projects, plastic skin textures, performances that look right but don’t feel human. I wanted to push past that and bring the same eye I use on a real set. How does the light fall? Where should the camera be? Does this moment feel honest? Keeping the world grounded was a big part of that. A cabin. A forest. A truck. We have two stylized characters—Dr. FOMO and the evil teddy bear—but I wanted to give them a believable world to exist in and let their presence do the work. AI gives us the ability to create almost anything, and it’s tempting to push every frame as far as possible. But having that freedom made restraint even more important to me. A shot still needs a reason. A performance still needs to connect. The visuals need to serve the story. I’m really excited about how this came together, and even more excited to keep building the KILLABEARS story. Oh, and that shadow at the end… who do you think it is? Drop your guess below ;) @moonpay @AskVenice

Bringing Dr. FOMO into live action for our third KILLABEARS short film meant translating a symbol of our brand while keeping his personality and voice intact. It also meant finally connecting him with Markus, played by Dameon Victorian in our first two live action shorts. This one was fully AI, but I wanted to preserve Markus’s look and the energy Dameon brought to the role. I’m excited for a hybrid future where Dameon can return on camera as Markus, our real life hero. 🐻🎬 @moonpay @AskVenice

We’re in year four of developing the traditional KILLABEARS film. We still haven’t rolled cameras, and as many of you know, it’s been quite the journey. The wen wen wen crypto crowd has shared with us their displeasure at times :) Hollywood moves at its own pace. We have navigated the process as best we can. It's just slow. We made our first two live-action shorts to illustrate our vision and help move the larger film along. They were a lot of fun to make and to share with our @killabearsnft and wider crypto communities. As AI tools improved, we started discussing a third short. We were kicking around ideas a couple of months before learning about the Lumara Film Festival, presented by @moonpay and @AskVenice. We felt the technology was ready, the concept for The Broadcast was strong, and it fit naturally alongside our first two shorts. So away we went... we made it, and submitted it to the contest. Three things are clear. 1. The traditional film process moves slowly. We’ve felt that firsthand. 2. We’ve built IP that people connect with. Our IP, story and universe have depth. We’ve seen people of all ages and backgrounds connect with Dr. Fomo, the bears and the stories we’ve created. 3. Creative control gives us options. Early on, we declined a network term sheet largely because we wanted to retain control of our IP. Keeping that control means we can explore any type of content, at any time, and on any medium that we chose. There’s real value in taking the harder road when it gives you the freedom to choose what you make next, and also when. That leaves us with two paths we can pursue in parallel. Path 1: The traditional film We keep pushing forward. As @SethGreen told me in 2022, it moves slowly forever, then suddenly at lightning speed. I’m eager for the day I finally get to meet Zeus ⚡️. Path 2: Exploring an AI series The Broadcast has shown us what the current tools can do. We want to build on what we’ve learned and explore how this could work as a series. KILLABEARS launched on-chain in 2022. We’re a crypto native brand built around characters and a community. Using new technology to bring our world to the screen feels like a natural extension of those roots. And we want these stories to reach people far beyond crypto. The Broadcast is now one of six finalists for Lumara’s Grand Prize and Jury Selection awards. @kickRRR is flying in for the occasion, and we're looking forward to attending the premiere. We appreciate @moonpay and @AskVenice giving filmmakers a stage through Lumara. @lorenzodoteth @jesseproudman @austinvirts @KeithGrossman @PackripEwing @ivanhodl @ErikVoorhees @serdre_ Please enjoy The Broadcast below, and the other two short films in the tweets that follow.
