यह होद चिल्लड गाँव है. आज इस गाँव में जाकर 32 दिए जलाए.
आज से ठीक 42 साल पहले यहाँ सिक्ख परिवारों की भरी-पूरी एक ढाणी थी. लेकिन 1 और 2 नवंबर 1984 को दंगाइयों ने इस ढाणी पर हमला कर सभी घरों और गुरुद्वारे में आग लगा दी. और 32 सिखों को मार दिया.
इस गांव का सच बहुत बाद में, शायद 2011 के आसपास लोगों के सामने आया.
इस गाँव में हुए सिखों के नरसंहार का आज तक न्याय नहीं मिल पाया. इस मामले में कोई कार्रवाही नहीं हुई. न कोई गिरफ़्तार हुआ और न ही स्टेट मशीनरी ने कभी इस घटना का सच सामने लाने के लिए कभी कोई पहलकदमी की.
थोड़ी बेचैनी हुई तो मैं Amit Punia और सहजदीप जाकर वहाँ 32 दिए जगा आए. मुझे त्योहारों की मर्यादाओं का नहीं पता है इसलिए हमने कोई गलती की तो माफ़ कीजिएगा.
कभी हँसती खेलती इस आबादी के खण्डर पड़े मकानों को देखकर हमारे इंसान होने पर शर्मिंदी महसूस हुई. शर्मिंदगी की वजह यह भी है कि अभी भी सांप्रदायिकता का भूत लगातार दिल्ली एनसीआर में पसरता ही जा रहा है. अल्पसंख्यकों के मामलों में हम सेंस्टिव होने की बजाय और अधिक बद्दतर होते जा रहे.
खैर, रोशनी के इस त्योहार पर उम्मीद है कि हम लोगों के दिल और दिमाग भी रोशन हों.

Thank you to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji for reminding us that selflessness is amongst the highest virtues we can aspire to even when putting ourselves first would be the easiest thing to do. He was held captive by the Mughal empire for no legitimate reason and when he was offered freedom, he still demanded freedom of 52 other wrongly imprisoned prisoners alongside himself. A great act that we can learn from. As we rise, we have a responsibility to lift others too.
