Analytics are subjective and this imperfect. It's the same as "old school" scouting. One person's expected goals is not the same as someone else's. The science is in the flesh and blood details. The science is an also art. It's imperfect but it can help you get close to math. I love math--it's spiritual. But, we will never reach math--because math is perfect. Plus/minus IS perfect but it's not art. Same as shots on goal. Noah Kahan's song "Downfall" is perfect art---according to my analytics.

The “Americans hate Canada” narrative is kinda tired. They’d have to pay more in taxes I think so that’s the only real motivation but Brady got basically recruited for 2 weeks. The other 2 guys their teams were awful & with Lark I think his trade list was dumb but the wings suck

Again, you’re either newborn baby level naive or a disingenuous troll if you’re arguing in favor of a salary cap for “competitive balance” purposes. The league itself is saying it.
Pirates fans might be ruining baseball more than the Dodgers
Anything I missed?
- It doesn't guarantee competitive balance
- It's a money grab for owners
- Baseball already has parity / money doesn't buy rings
- Just do a floor, no cap
- It's not worth losing a season
- Let the Dodgers spend, they earned it
- Caps break up good teams
- Capped leagues still have dynasties
- LA is a destination and players will take discounts
- Bottom teams still won't get stars
- It won't fix bad management or ownership
- Owners will game it with loopholes
- Players make less
- Owners are greedy
The Cock better watch himself I still know the OilersNow phone-line
Replying to @NHL_Sid
A reminder that in the season in which Dave Tippett was fired, the Oilers started 9-1; the W's shouldn't entirely distract from the flaws.
The Oilers currently sit at an awful 32 GF% / 39 xG% without McDavid & Draisaitl. Let's see to what extent that improves with 93/18 back.

Speaking to media at the World Series about an expected MLB lockout, MLBPA executive director Bruce Meyer said “none of this has to be happening.”
Meyer said MLB’s push for a salary cap is about increasing franchise values and capping costs, not competitive balance.

A lot of people are calling this a bluff but I’m not sure this statement is mutually exclusive with the package that’s rumored to be out there. Depends on that forward to be named but just seems like a lot of quantity with not much upside IMO
I had a feeling this was the case, but Sunny Mehta outright said it in a recent interview with NHL dot com:
“Because there is randomness at the position, I’m reluctant to invest significant assets there instead of in areas where the results may be more predictable.”

Chevy accepted a much worse offer from the Devils instead of running away with the Florida or Buffalo offers this past off-season.
A team like Buffalo shouldn’t feel forced to pay for talent well into their 30s just for the sake of doing so
And Byram is just ass
