Still better than 8unit midblocks

Then why donate to the NDP?
You cant make this up! Danielle Smith just stood up in the Legislature and claimed that Jeff Rath, separatist leader, (?) lawyer for the Alberta Property Project and Proud UCP member who featured predominantly at the last... UCP AGM. Is "actually an NDP supporter" Legit quote.

I was told more money solves everything
Among 32 high-income countries with universal health care, Canada is second in spending, but 26th in beds, 28th in MRI units, and CT scanners, and 30th in doctors.

There should be no limit on resale markups
Every Albertan knows the feeling. Tickets go on sale, they're gone in seconds, and an hour later the same seats show up online for three times the price, plus fees you only see at checkout. Unreasonable ticket resale markups or ticket scalping can put these experiences out of reach for families and fans. Through Bill 34, we're proposing new consumer protections to make ticket resale prices and fees more transparent, with the potential to limit excessive markups. Seeing your favorite sports team or band live shouldn't be a luxury only scalpers can afford to sell you.

The NDP are caught in a Catch-22 here. They want to scare everyone into thinking this legislation is draconian and terrible. And they also want to continue pretending that the public service isn’t woke and racist. But if that’s true, then this Legislation wouldn’t do anything!
I was hired, and earned promotions as public servant under both conservative and progressive provincial governments. I worked alongside diverse, incredibly talented public servants whom I have huge respect for. I also hired, managed, and promoted public servants. Our public institutions run on meritocracy. People are in their roles through merit and competency. Assuming otherwise is an insult to those who have served and retired and those who are doing incredible work.

False.
This WAS NOT happening at the University of Alberta. If anything, it is laughable how little EDI was being considered at the school despite the university’s claims to care about it in the past. You can read our analysis here: edmontonjournal.com/opinion/…

Still delicious
Reese's Pieces have no chocolate in them. The peanuts had their oil pressed out and a cheaper fat put back in. Sugar is first, then partially defatted peanuts, then hydrogenated palm kernel and soybean oil, then corn syrup solids. Everything after that is 2% or less, and it's the dyes, the glaze, some vanillin and a little milk. There's no cocoa anywhere. Partially defatted just means the peanuts went through a press. The peanut oil comes out one side and gets sold as peanut oil. What's left is a dry peanut flour, and that's what the center is made from, because flour holds a shape in a panning drum and doesn't go rancid. Then they put fat back in, and the fat they picked is hydrogenated palm kernel oil, which is solid at room temperature and costs less than peanut oil. You can see the swap on the panel. 38 pieces have 6 g of fat and all 6 are saturated. Peanut oil is mostly unsaturated, so that number isn't the peanut. The shell is sugar with 4 dyes and a coat of shellac.

This thread makes a common fundamental error - it ignores demographics. The housing demand from a 30 day old is different than a 30 year old. An unplanned surge in the adult population has a different impact than an unexpectedly high number of births.
1. Population growth, 1980-2025. The spike doesn't begin until 2021, and lasts until 2024.

This couldn’t be further from the the truth
DEI is not about hiring someone unqualified (unlike politics), it’s about ensuring that qualified job candidates, regardless of sex, race, age, disability, sexuality, etc have an equal shot given these groups are historically underrepresented when they *aren’t* considered.

Excellent
So Rob Smith sent out an email a few minutes ago noting 65 UCP have already passed resolutions saying they don't want a leadership review. That would appear to foreclose Rath and Sylvestre's trouble making. Good.

Yup
This will have broad support; the @albertaNDP will oppose it to its detriment. #ableg

👍
The best person for the job should get the job. Period. Today we tabled legislation that would ensure hiring and promotion decisions in the public sector are based on merit, not DEI policies. Mandatory workplace training will be relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the employee, instead of mandatory DEI sessions. Every Albertan deserves a fair shot, and fairness means everyone competes on the same terms.

Fear mongering nonsense
The BC teachers union president issued this statement today 🥴 "I recognize that with the outcome of a Conservative government, many of us may be feeling disappointed, scared, or deeply concerned about what might come next. I know these results may be particularly concerning for Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ members. You are not alone."
