Now, after some 4 months of hard work, we had the opportunity, thanks to @gobelins_paris, to concretely test our work in public! It was at the 2023's edition of the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris (@GrandPalaisRmn @f_immersive).
@LeFlanb mastered this part. We used a Kinect to take the role of a depth camera (we are broke). We tilted it down to make it face the floor. The depth value & the middle point of the finger's location will tell us approximatively where the user wants to interact on the screen.
Without any base of it (except a little extraordinary drafty game I created 5 years ago with UE), we had to handle the software in a record time.
For this, I thank @OpenAI for ChatGPT. I'll not say anything except this video:
(too bad, the compression hides the content 🤓🤨😞)
Initially, we were experienced in web development and creative coding.
Unreal Engine is a powerful tool that I always wanted to discover, but it is so scary too. But at this time, we hadn't the choice.
That thing is perfect for our goal. We'll just have to send our data to our dedicated network routes and make all of our things happen with code.
But, you guessed it, here comes a new challenger: Unreal Engine.

To get the answer, we asked @BenjaminOlah for it. We found an interactive installation that he made the last year, that fits perfectly the question we had (youtube.com/watch?v=dnroA8Um… for my curious homies).
