Karen Tumulty joins the Politics & Government desk as Chief Political Correspondent - The Washington Post washingtonpost.com/pr/2025/0…
Gov. candidate @amyactonoh (D-OH) calls Vivek Ramaswamy's (R-OH) ad the "big elephant in the room" and says that she remembers the people that "didn't look the other way" during her childhood and that the ad should not have "exploited" her mother, who she says is "not well."

I asked Chris Christie, former New Jersey governor and Vivek Ramaswamy's fiercest critic during the 2024 nomination fight, about the attack ad and Vance's defense.
"For the last decade, our party has been infected by a corrupted moral center," he said.

WOW -- Vance *defends* Ramaswamy's reprehensible ad 👇
Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away from that. Do you think that ad was appropriate?
JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest with you. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern. My concern is who is gonna govern. I have to admit I'm a little bit disgusted when I see Republicans who are whining more about that ad than they are about what the Democrats want to do.

People who have been around politics a long time may be struck as I was by the sheriff's signature on this arrest warrant for Amy Acton's stepfather, who at the time was a fugitive. Does the name James Traficant ring a bell?

Professional news!
SO excited to announce that I will be manning @cspan’s first-ever election night big board, the DEMOCRACY DASHBOARD, next month along with the great Jon McArdle.
E-Day lineup is stacked too, with @kirk_bado, @ercovey, @JessicaTaylor, @abbyyturner_ and more>>
“The design, materials, workmanship, setting, and feeling that is conveyed through the building’s primary exterior material would be diminished and fundamentally altered. ... a highly visible change to a nationally significant building for which future reversibility is uncertain.” wapo.st/4yVTpuD
The GOP has had a majority of the nation's governorships since 2010. After November, maybe not. While so much attention is on what will happen in Washington, Republicans’ grip on state power is also at risk in elections wapo.st/4zDyywf

Heidi Levine, photojournalist for @wapo suffered serious injuries from vicious & cowardly attack. Heidi is US Citizen, clear ID as journalist. Details of who under investigation, but those who attacked unarmed reporter should spend YRS in prison. We have called for a full investigation, arrest, and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law to whoever participated in this. Attacking a female photographer is despicable act of terror carried out by masked cowards. Dishonorable act of senseless violence.
Proving that if you hang around politics long enough, you'll see everything happen, here's @GeorgeWill making the case for @SherrodBrown -- A rumpled Democrat may ride Ohio anti-Trumpism back to the Senate wapo.st/4zDpLKS

Solid scoop by WaPo here. This entire thing reeks. Pardon recipient's family members, major GOP lobbyists, wanna-be ambassadors, businesses with interests b4 the govt., companies settling suits with Trump, contractors. all donating to this fund.

Andy Harris tried picking on a student reporter--a woman--from UM's Capital News Service.
Cat Murphy was having none of it. She stayed cool, focused and professional.
She made the bully flee is own gaggle.
