With all the current noise about Fauci, covid.gov, and the 2020 audits, we're losing sight of the real problem in 2026: Our genomic surveillance systems remain reactive.
We're still operating with "genomic autopsies." I decided to build an alternative. 🧵👇

People are missing the point of Ginux.
I didn’t create another kernel to compete with Linux. That is idiotic!
In fact I consider the code disposable. Think about that…
Ginux wasn’t the product. The development process was the experiment. The kernel was the evidence.
Could AI, directed by an experienced engineer, could build and validate an extraordinarily complex software system.
In just 11 days, I produced an independent kernel capable of booting Rocky Linux 10 with systemd.
That was the experiment. And while Ginux isn’t a complete Linux aligned kernel, the experiment is complete.
The research paper documents the methodology, results, and limitations.
Since publishing, people have started finding bugs and security issues. That’s fantastic! Independent review is exactly how complex software gets better.
There has already been an initial security review, and there’s a remediation plan sitting in context that I’m considering implementing.
So the question is, since the experiment is complete, do I even do anything further here?
Maybe there is an interesting experiment in measuring how efficiently human-directed AI can fix the problems external reviewers discover?
How much time does it take to reproduce an issue, identify the root cause, implement a fix, and validate the result? How much human intervention is actually required?
That’s potentially an even more interesting situation than the original 11-day experiment.
Because the real question was never whether AI could replace Linux. Even if it can replace some aspects of its functionality, it can’t replicate the community, standards, collaboration, alignment, or stability.
If you still believe that Ginux was designed to be a Linux replacement, you should read the actual paper.

The creator of CentOS and Rocky Linux built a new OS kernel with AI in just 11 days.
It’s called Ginux, and it can already run selected Linux programs without the Linux kernel underneath.
Gregory Kurtzer guided the design while Codex wrote and tested around 139,000 lines of code.
Written mainly in Rust, Ginux has its own memory management, scheduler and networking. It even boots Rocky Linux 10 with systemd in a virtual machine.
It’s still an experimental prototype, with incomplete compatibility and hardware support. The code is open source under Apache 2.0.
Eleven days to get this far. Now comes the harder part of making it reliable.

Most people who call AI code “slop” write code best described as “the stuff pigs make after they eat some slop”.
… or they haven’t shipped any significant code at all.

BIOWARE HA MUERTO.
Y no, culpar únicamente a EA sería demasiado fácil.

Last year, Mullvad (a VPN company) co-founder Daniel Berntsson gave a personal donation of roughly $500k USD to the Swedish Örebro Party -- a political party which calls for stricter immigration policies and "extensive remigration".
What happened next is... predictable.
According to reports, roughly a quarter of the staff of Mullvad joined an internal chat criticizing the donation, with many calling for Berntsson to resign. Which Berntsson refused to do.
After several Leftist outlets in Europe criticized the donation, @mullvadnet issued a statement supporting the co-Founders right to make any donation he wants... but offering customers upset by this a refund on their services.
Then Tor got involved.
Mullvad is the single largest contributor to the Tor Project, providing well over $1 Million USD annually. As you might guess... this made the Leftists very angry.
"highly racist, white supremacist"
"it is the reason I have had to resign as a Tor Browser developer"
With some calling for "a clean break" from "Nazi CEOs".
Tor responded to these attacks with the following statement:
"Tor Project has paused proactive co-branding with Mullvad. That pause applies to joint promotional activity while the technical collaboration continues in alignment with our narrowly scoped agreement. We have also reviewed how Mullvad Browser is described and endorsed on our owned channels, and clarified language suggesting broader alignment between our values. These changes are intended to describe the relationship more accurately and avoid notions of implied endorsement."
The @torproject then by changing the way they describe their relationship with Mullvad from "great value alignment" to a "a narrowly-scoped technical collaboration".
This, as you can imagine, made the Leftists even angrier (because they always get angrier... no matter what).
The attacks on Tor intensified, with Leftists calling their position: "if we get money from right-wing extremists, well, we take it".

The big Linux Kernel AI fight is heating up.
3 days ago, an anti-AI activist (Laurent Pinchart) was elected to the Linux Kernel Technical Advisory Board.
Pinchart, who says there is “no ethical justification for the use of generative AI in FOSS development” (and that it is being used to “undermine democracy”), recently had a rejected Open Source Summit proposal entitled “How we can resist generative AI”.
After that speech was rejected, he said he “will think of a plan B”.
Plan B, apparently, involved getting on the Technical Advisory Board.
Now Pinchart is pushing to have Linux adopt anti-AI policies.
When long time Linux developer, Ted Tso, asked, “Who cares if [high quality contributions] are AI-generated or not?” Pinchart responded, “I do.”
“There is a small number of very vocal long term maintainers who,” Pinchart said, “never really cared about the people making the kernel. That show a very strong enthusiasm for LLM’s.”
“It’s borderline sickening,” he stated.
This is happening as Linux Kernel patches shot past 20% (of all patches) during the month of October.

For too long, Communist Cuba has been allowed to operate as an outpost for malign actors and terror groups – including the Islamic Republic of Iran, the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism – to target the United States.
Today, I designated BICSA, a Cuban financial institution which has been providing financial services to sanctioned Iranian entities.
Let me be absolutely clear: the Trump Administration will not tolerate a rogue state hosting hostile foreign military, intelligence and terror operations less than a hundred miles from our homeland. state.gov/releases/office-of…
