Records are made to be broken. But I take no pleasure in other people's pain.

If you give up the em dash, the machines win. Don’t do it.
I deeply resent that AI has forced me to eliminate em dashes from my writing for fear of signaling slop

Runners! The shout goes out as interns run the Supreme Court decisions to their network anchors today. At least one more day of decisions coming as the court ruled on only 3(4) cases today.

For journalists covering the Alaska Senate race, a note on grammar in unique situations like this: Please refer to them as “Dans Sullivan” — like you would for Attorneys General or courts-martial.
BREAKING: ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Supreme Court says a man with the same name as US Sen. Dan Sullivan is eligible to be on the primary ballot.

Warren Buffett on Charlie Munger’s hearing problem “I stood across the room and said - Charlie, we should buy General Motors at $35. No reaction.” “Got closer and repeated it. Not a flicker.” “Finally I shouted in his ear and Charlie replied - For the 3rd time, Yes.” 😂

Do you put a question mark inside or outside quotation marks? That depends on the meaning. Are you asking a question about what's in quotes? Then the question mark goes outside: Who wrote "Gone With the Wind"? Is the quoted matter a question? It goes inside: He asked, "How long will it take?"

A law firm sues a client for $1.24M in unpaid legal fees. But in that litigation, the lawyer cites 23 fake cases, on 47 occasions, across 19 filings, including in a motion for sanctions against the client (!). The court also notes "at least 83 instances" where the lawyer misstated case holdings, with examples "too numerous to detail fully herein." The client defendant who allegedly owed the money says he never even signed a retainer agreement, was never invoiced, and he filed an ethics complaint against the lawyer. The court points out that the lawyer sought $50,000 in fees "for work product that appears to have been generated through the use of artificial intelligence, without adequate verification of the accuracy of the cited authorities." The court grants the client's cross-motion for sanctions against the lawyer. Sanctions hearing and order to follow.

Let me just double click for those of you that don’t know: This is probably the #1 litigation law firm on the planet submitting AI hallucinated cases in a ~$8 billion bankruptcy case. This should be a wake up call to EVERYONE. If it can happen to them, it can happen to you!
POV: You just paid S&C, one of the three most expensive and high-powered law firms in the world, $3000 per hour to submit AI slop to the court on your behalf. No one is safe.
