🚨 NEARLY $1 MILLION LOSS IN SCARBOROUGH! AN UNFINISHED DREAM HOME CRASHES 42%! This one has quite the history. 🔹 January 2022: Sold for $2,420,000 🔹 October 2023: Sold for $2,255,000 🔹 November 2026: Sold for $1,299,900 A NEARLY STAGGERING $1M LOSS IN JUST THREE YEARS! Here's where it gets interesting. This custom-built detached home sits on a 61 × 151 ft lot near Lake Ontario and the Scarborough Bluffs. Approximately 3,600 sq ft, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a double garage. But there's a catch. The house was unfinished when it sold in 2022. It was still unfinished when it sold in 2023. And now, in November 2026, the latest listing describes it as just 85% COMPLETE! Looking at the listing photos, there appears to have been some progress between 2022 and 2023, but the latest images still show an unfinished interior. The property changed hands for more than $2.2 MILLION in 2023. Three years later, it sold for just $1.3 MILLION. That's also $1.12 MILLION BELOW its January 2022 sale price! And remember, the 2023 buyer didn't purchase at the peak. The unfinished dream home is still waiting to be completed. But the price has already collapsed.

Elon Musk predicts space will become the lowest-cost place to run superintelligence within just 2–3 years “I think the case is a no-brainer for building solar-powered AI data centers in space” Solar panels facing the Sun and radiators pointed away from it can provide an incredibly efficient power and cooling system “The net effect is that the lowest cost place to put AI will be space. And that'll be true within two years, maybe three at the latest”

🚨 $585,000 LOSS IN ORO-MEDONTE! EVEN 2 ACRES COULDN'T SAVE THIS ONE! Here's what makes this sale particularly interesting. 🔹 October 2022: Sold for $1,265,000 🔹 May 2024: Sold for $1,715,000 in just 5 DAYS! 🔹 November 2026: Sold for $1,130,000 $585K WIPED OUT IN JUST 2.5 YEARS! A 34% DROP! Think about that. The property actually appreciated by $450K between 2022 and 2024, even as Ontario's housing market was cooling. Then everything reversed. Nearly 2 acres of private, park like land. A custom built home with approximately 3,800 sq ft of finished living space, a 3-car garage, a separate 3-bedroom in-law suite and a backyard backing onto Braestone Golf Club. In 2024, it took just 5 days to sell. In 2026, the property spent 223 days on the market across listings. The final selling price was even $135K BELOW its October 2022 sale price! Remember, the latest buyer didn't purchase at the February 2022 market peak. They purchased in MAY 2024. The housing correction didn't stop in 2022. For some buyers, the losses were only beginning.

🚨 THIS IS DOWNTOWN WHITBY, ONTARIO Developments sitting unfinished. Construction stalled. Builders reportedly walking away because the economics no longer make sense. @landthis makes a powerful point in this video. Canada just released another federal budget. But where is the serious plan to rebuild the economic foundation that supports housing? We need strong jobs, rising real wages and a generation of young Canadians who can actually afford to buy homes. Instead, we're still debating job offshoring, wage pressures, the cost of living and policies that increase labour supply without ensuring enough good-paying opportunities. Who is going to buy all these homes if the next generation cannot afford them? You cannot kickstart housing construction without a strong economy behind it. This is bigger than Whitby. It's about Canada's economic future.

Something interesting is happening with Power of Sale properties across the GTA. I'm hearing a growing trend from sources tracking these losses. Lenders appear increasingly willing to accept the first reasonable offer, close quickly, and absorb the loss rather than wait for a better price. As losses pile up, the priority seems to be shifting from maximizing recovery to getting these properties off the books. That tells you something about where this market is heading.

🚨 $1.36 MILLION LOSS IN CALEDON! NEARLY 50% WIPED OUT! 🔹 January 2022: Sold for $2,815,000 🔹 November 2026: Sold for $1,460,000 A STAGGERING $1,355,000 LOSS! This wasn't your typical suburban home. A 1.5 acre estate with over 4,300 sq ft of living space, a three car garage and a separate two bedroom apartment. In January 2022, it sold for $216,000 OVER ASKING in just 9 days. Fast forward to November 2026. 97 DAYS ON THE MARKET. Sold for $189,000 BELOW ASKING. But here's where things get interesting. The original listing showed a traditional, lived in country home. The latest photos reveal extensive interior renovation work. A modern white kitchen, marble-look flooring, updated bathrooms and a dramatically different living space. Yet the kitchen appears to be missing appliances, and parts of the renovation still look unfinished. Someone bought this property for $2.815 MILLION, undertook renovations, and the home ultimately resold for $1.46 MILLION. That's a $1.355 MILLION difference in sale prices, BEFORE renovation costs and selling expenses. From bidding wars to a nearly 50% collapse in resale value. Even 1.5 acres of Caledon real estate couldn't protect this property from a brutal loss.

🚨 HORRIFIC! $657K LOSS IN CALEDON IN JUST 17 MONTHS! This wasn't even purchased during the 2022 housing frenzy. 🔹 May 2025: Sold for $2,107,000 🔹 October 2026: Sold for $1,450,000 $657K WIPED OUT. A 31% DROP IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND A HALF! Think about that. A detached bungalow sitting on a massive 196 × 163 ft lot, with highway commercial zoning and potential uses ranging from restaurants to retail and vehicle repair. This wasn't some ordinary little subdivision property. The 2025 listing highlighted the property's commercial potential. By April 2026, it was back on the market asking $1,688,888. That listing expired. It eventually returned at $1,599,000 and sold for just $1.45 MILLION. The photos tell another story. The earlier listing showed a maintained property with mature landscaping. The latest listing presents a much emptier exterior setting. But the real shock is someone paid $2.1 MILLION for this property in 2025. And just 17 months later, the resale price was $657K lower. Caledon is getting a brutal reality check.

It's starting to happen in St. Catharines, Ontario. Homeowners exploring a different way to sell. Properties are being listed on @HouseUp88, where interested buyers can connect directly with sellers. No traditional middleman required for that initial connection. Could this become a bigger trend in Canadian real estate?
🚨 UBER CHANGED THE TAXI INDUSTRY. WHY HAS REAL ESTATE BEEN SO SLOW TO CHANGE? It's 2026. Technology has transformed how we travel, shop and communicate. Yet buying and selling a home still largely follows the traditional model. @landthis , founder of HouseUp.ca, was asked why the real estate industry has been so slow to change. His answer is that he believes the industry has been gatekept for decades, with MLS access creating barriers for homeowners who want to sell independently. He also explains why he thinks that could change over the next few years. Is Canadian real estate finally approaching its Uber moment?

🚨 $515,000 LOSS! A STAGGERING 43% WIPED OUT IN SCARBOROUGH! This time, we're talking about a modest detached bungalow. 🔹 March 2022: Sold for $1,200,000 🔹 October 2026: Sold for $685,000 $515,000 GONE IN JUST OVER FOUR YEARS! Think about the buyer who paid $1.2 MILLION for this home near the peak of the housing frenzy. A small brick bungalow on a 40 × 125 ft lot, with a separate basement entrance, close to Kennedy Subway Station. Not a luxury mansion. Not a sprawling estate. Just an ordinary detached home in Toronto. Now it's selling for 43% LESS. This is where the housing correction really hits home. When even modest detached properties are losing half a million dollars, you have to wonder how many buyers from 2022 are sitting on similar losses.

Why does a buyer need to go through a real estate agent just to ask a homeowner a question? When was the kitchen renovated? What are the schools like? What's the neighbourhood like? HouseUp's founder explains how his platform aims to connect buyers and sellers directly, allowing them to ask questions, communicate and even arrange home viewings. An interesting concept in an industry that has operated much the same way for decades. Is the traditional real estate model ready for change?
