I've been banging this drum for quite some time and taken a lot of nasty comments from people. I do not care. When you willfully burden the children you profess to love by refusing to make accommodations for your advanced age, you are telling the world that four walls mean more to you than your kids and grandkids. Now Dad's in the hospital, Mom needs a ride home and someone to stay overnight, and I have to work tomorrow and get my kids ready for school.
This was entirely preventable. I've offered every reasonable solution, and they've refused them all. Older generations, you cannot insist on doing everything your way and then expect your adult children to rearrange their lives to make it work…
