Creating a new logo shouldn't take ages. I wanted something fast, simple and free. So I built Logo Lattice. 100% free. 100% browser based. 100% ownership of creations. Link in first comment 👀

Here's how that new file transfer feature works 🔥 Just right-click it and Scootch it to your other computer. That's it. Mac. Windows. Linux. Scootch is magic 🪄 getscootch.com
Scootch v1.2 is out! 🚀 Halloween animations, synchronised animations, and an even faster way of transferring files between computers! Right-click a file and there's a "Scootch to..." option that lists your connected computers 🔥 If you're using Scootch on a Mac, please note that this update will be the first notarized Mac release, so it's been signed differently from the previous releases. As such, you'll need to reset the permissions in Privacy & Security. Remove any old entries for Scootch and re-add once you've got this new version! Any issues, give me a shout. Read all the updates here: getscootch.com/changelog

So I came across a few posts about how we're all getting tired of subscriptions, and that got me thinking last night. While I think One Design is worth the price, I tried putting myself in my users' shoes and realised it's probably not something you'd use daily, unless your workflow requires it. So I made a pretty big change to the pricing. I've removed the £4.99/mo subscription and, for a limited time, dropped the lifetime price from £79.99 to £29.99. There are 95 founding supporter spots left, which come with a nifty little card and your name and link on the Info page alongside the other cool people. Oh, and there are already 24 tools available, with more coming!

Are bentos still the shit? This one is. Bento is new on One Design: nine templates, drag to resize and swap, photo and text tiles, one clean export. For the Pros.

Tern is officially back at $0 MRR. And somehow, that's good news. My very first monthly subscriber was due to renew tomorrow. Instead, they upgraded to a lifetime founding membership. I've lost my recurring revenue, but gained someone who believes in Tern enough to back it for life. In think that's a pretty good trade! Just 4 spots left 🧡

If you haven't tried Scootch yet, today's the last day of the free beta! From tomorrow (Monday 19th), we move to a 3-day free trial and then you'll need a licence key. Those of you on the beta get those 3 days too 😄 Thanks to everyone who's tested and provided feedback so far, I've been loving the positive reactions, particularly those of you who DM'd me footage of you scootching between your computers, that was awesome 😄

The next big hurdle for Tern is here 😨 This weekend is all about tying up loose ends, fixing bugs and getting Tern stable. Come Monday, everything shifts to Google's CASA certification. OWASP testing, security audits, documentation, pen testing. I'll be throwing everything I can at Tern to find weaknesses before anyone else does. Once I'm confident, it's time to pay for the assessment and hope I've done enough to pass. The deadline is November 20th. One dev, one expensive hurdle, one final step 🧡

IT'S FINALLY OVER 😭 After days of fighting Postgres, running migrations, testing against millions of records, filling up servers and questioning every ounce of my sanity... Tern's search database has gone from 61GB to 6.8GB! That's an 89% reduction! No lost emails. No downtime. Search still flies. To the many of you using Tern, you'll never see any of this. But just so you know, it has absolutely broken me 🧡
I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Days of database migrations, testing, fixing and questioning my life choices. 61GB to 7GB. 185,000 checks, 0 mismatches. Tern is officially running on the new structure, just a few final checks and cleanup steps left. And then I can finally relax. Just kidding. Google's CASA security assessment is next. I just want to make things pretty 😭

Email clients are popping up everywhere 👀 Maybe it's coincidence. Maybe it's a sign that there's an appetite for something better. Either way, it's pretty exciting to see the space heating up. A little competition is healthy, and it makes me excited to keep shipping new features 🔥 I'm also now completely overhauling tags in Tern, got some insane changes coming.

My first annual customer just cancelled. Not because they were unhappy. They wanted to upgrade to a lifetime founding membership! I upgraded them and lost some recurring revenue. But I gained someone that supports and believes in Tern. I'd make that trade any day 🧡

First proper look at Scootch! 👀 I've put together this demo video showing the very basics for Scootch: pairing a Windows PC and a Linux laptop, and hopping between them. 🪟👉🐧 There's much more to it than that though! Mac works too btw 😉 Please let me know what you think. (It's also the first time I've put myself on camera, so go easy on me! I had a drastic haircut recently😅 )

So many good points here. Find people you genuinely click with, not just accounts to follow. Build your products, your brand and your connections along the way. Celebrate wins, help when things go wrong and be supportive to each other when things feel slow - we're all on the same path! It's cliche but the best part of building is those you meet along the way 🧡
New to X? New to Building in Public? I'm officially 6 months into my journey and have learned many things but the most important is probably this: Find a group that you mesh with - both professionally and entirely not professionally. It's important to be able to say what you want/need and be understood correctly. Like my sarcasm for instance... I have learned more about #buildinpublic life from the people below than from doom scrolling the rest of the 1262 "build in public" accounts i currently follow. They give me product feedback on design/features, but more importantly they give me support when things are not going well - like if i'm feeling bummed about progress, or have no idea how to go about marketing. They always have helpful tips and suggestions, and a sarcastic comment back at me too. This is not a complete list, nor an in order list, but these 4 amazing people have kept me going! Make sure you notice i said people not accounts damnit. So much thanks to y'all!!! @ldo_dev @JacobCounsell @MythThrazz @tinytechfox I can't wait to continue meeting more influential people on X to post about in another 6 months!
