The great Patrick Byrne, patriot, former CEO Overstock & Bitcoin pioneer stopped by the farm today. We had a great chat. He filled me in on his latest adventures. We also talked securities tokens and how the industry we helped create a decade ago has grown:

Sync the #Ravencoin blockchain in hours, not days or weeks. chainstrap.com/ I started this project 5 years ago. With copious amounts of help from AI, it is ready to run.

Seeing a lot of tradfi institutions teaming up with crypto fintech companies. Cant help but lament all the potential @tZERO had before getting hijacked by a bunch of anti crypto boomer retards screaming about crypto and cheering on Elizabeth Warren and Chokepoint 2.0. I tried 🤷🏻‍♂️

The project could have taken a premine and spent it on marketing & hype which might have artificial use What the market decides is what it decides All open source can do is be what it is — code, given away for free and which operates as it says it will

Most of the puritans who attacked Ravencoin as an alt coin now spend their days shilling for Blackrock, Cantor and centralization. You made dislike the project, you may think it’s stupid. But you can’t deny the cypherpunk decentralization in an age of centralized grifting.

Not sure why everyone’s selling CA’s billionaire tax like a car finance guy: “Only 1%!” Read it: one-time 5% wealth tax on net worth >$1B. “1%” is just the 5-year installment option. 👉The tax is 5%. Btw, the installment plan also includes a 7.5% annual deferral charge on the unpaid balance oag.ca.gov/system/files/init…

God I love Norway, but some policies and the attitude around success feel backwards and it creates a long term social problem with an immeasurable cost. 👉 They don’t celebrate success like they used to. And it’s a bad combo when the government’s reflex is to tax success harder, while a loud segment of people who aren’t building anything feel entitled to take it away. That mix doesn’t create fairness. It kills motivation. In the USA, you go to a party and people talk shop, share ideas, and cheer you on. You leave more motivated. In Norway, I too often find myself defending ambition like it’s something to apologize for. I still love Norway, but this mindset hurts the country long term. And here’s the part that worries me most. No amount of oil wealth or a sovereign wealth fund can reverse the long term effects of turning “build something” into a socially negative norm. Think about all the future innovators who never get the chance to feel that burning in your stomach, that can’t wait to wake up and conquer the world drive. That feeling is priceless. It’s worth more than all the oil in the world to protect and nurture it. #Norway
Friendly reminder to California: Taxes on unrealized capital gains have led to more than half of the wealth held by Norway’s top 400 taxpayers moving abroad. I.e. Norway has become more equal and made everybody poorer and worse off, just as expected from strong socialist ideas.

I never thought we'd still be asking for a listing on Coinbase. What the heck happened? Did Bruce not share a cookie at a Satoshi meetup? At this point, it has to be something trivial. Maybe we never asked nicely? Please, Brian, will you list Ravencoin?
Replying to @brian_armstrong
You should list Ravencoin Brian - absolutely zero premine, set aside, developer reward, founder reward, treasury, ICO or fundraise.

Or maybe Tron tried to convince Brian that the movie Tron is based on him?

As a business owner, you’re used to holding the reins to control, limit, manage everything. But Ravencoin flips that mindset on its head. It’s not about you controlling it. It’s about no one controlling it. The code is the boss, and that’s its superpower. No jurisdiction can shut it down, no single gatekeeper can say ‘no.’ If you want freedom in a blockchain, Ravencoin is it. If you want Ravencoin to succeed you need to encourage people to use it. Just remember, you might not always like how they use it, but that’s its superpower! $RVN

Ravencoin continues operating as a mature, battle-tested PoW chain focused on asset issuance and tokenization. This "subsidy-chain" role lets Ravencoin contribute to layered ecosystems like Quai while maintaining its independence. Win win for all. Ravencoin is here for the taking. Go build and use however you want. There’s no permission needed and nobody to vet your project. The only thing stopping you is YOU! $RVN
Look at this RVN wall and remember Ravencoin’s tech path: ASIC-resistant PoW, native asset tokenization, faster block targets, all built and tested over years. Now that same real work is being routed through SOAP on @QuaiNetwork. This is what subsidy-chain fundamentals look like in practice: existing PoW networks just doing what they already do best, while value finally gets captured downstream instead of quietly leaking away.

Last night my son asked for my ChatGPT login to help him and his friends make a video game. I told him to get his own paid account as he just has a free one. I came up 2 hours later and they had a freaking game and a ton of code. Apparently he’s been taking Python for over a year so he already knew how to code and build and put it all together. I had no clue. Crazy shit.

I’ve been trying to motivate him to make money. I didn’t know what would motivate him so I kept saying stuff like “you could easily make enough to buy a Ferrari in 1-2 years if you focused”. Over the weekend he said “You think I could make enough to buy some ocean front land or a small cabin in Norway”. I was like fuck yeah. I didn’t know a 14 year old wanted land. I thought they wanted cars and chicks.
