NEWS — President Trump will hold a rally in Corinth, Mississippi, on Monday, per @magnoliatribune. The announcement comes as @Axios reports that Senate Republicans are increasingly concerned about Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith’s re-election bid against Democrat Scott Colom. Democrats have announced a $1.2 million ad buy supporting Colom.

Two weeks out, there’s only 2 options… Either this is the biggest midterm landslide of the 21st century, or the final nail in the coffin for the mainstream polling industry.

Florida Early Voting | Day 1 🔴 2024: R+25.0 (377,035 votes) 🔴 2026: R+0.4 (171,015 votes) 🔵 24.6-point shift toward Democrats Republicans still have plenty of time to make up ground, and the first day of in-person early voting has generally been their weakest.

France: hundreds of thousands march over fuel prices and the cost of living. Then masked mobs hijack it, loot shops, and burn a 19th-century town hall in Limoges. They used to call Paris the City of Light. Now it's just the city of fires.

Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, former CIA, says she wants a ‘deterrence message’ sent by going after ‘signature cases’ not just against the president, but against ‘the people who enabled him.’ Deterrence. That’s military and intelligence language, which makes sense given her background. She’s applying the tactics used against foreign adversaries to American citizens who have the gall to work for a Republican president the voters elected. She’s not talking about prosecuting actual corruption discovered through normal processes. She’s talking about manufacturing high-profile examples so that the next generation of conservatives self-selects out of public service. In other words, make the cost of participating in a Republican administration so high that talent stays home or goes corporate instead. This is the logical endpoint of the two systems of justice we’ve watched for years. When Democrats hold power, their people serve without this kind of cloud hanging over them. Young liberal graduates line up for Obama or Biden administration jobs with no one in the other party threatening them with ‘signature cases’ designed to scare their peers. But when Republicans win an election, especially one as disruptive as Trump’s, suddenly the same people who spent years telling us ‘no one is above the law’ decide the real goal is to make sure almost no competent conservatives are willing to be in the room when decisions are made. And where does she say this? At the University of Chicago, one of those elite institutions the left still largely controls. She’s speaking to the young skulls full of mush who are supposed to absorb this lesson: serving the wrong president is dangerous. That’s the message. Not ‘serve your country honorably under whoever the voters choose.’ The message is ‘serve us, or prepare for problems.’ This is the soft version of what they’ve been doing with investigations, leaks, and selective enforcement for years. The hard version is lawfare. The soft version is the explicit threat that if you enable a Republican administration, we’ll make an example of someone like you so the next class of graduates thinks twice. It is an attempt to institutionalize a permanent Democratic advantage in the permanent bureaucracy and the political appointee ranks. Elections become formalities if only one side’s people are willing or able to staff the government afterward. Young conservatives listening to this should hear it as a recruitment pitch, not a warning. The fact that a sitting senator feels comfortable saying this in public is evidence of how confident parts of the left have become that they can weaponize institutions without serious consequence. The proper response is not to be deterred. It is to recognize the game, document the double standard, and show up anyway. Because if enough people accept her ‘deterrence,’ the only people left to run the executive branch when Republicans win will be the ones who never really objected to the status quo in the first place.

There is no constitutional requirement that the president appoint a White House press secretary. A president is not legally required to appoint someone to that particular position. A president is not legally required to hold daily televised White House press briefings. There is no constitutional requirement that a president's spokesperson answer reporters' questions every day. For the first 140 years of American government, presidents managed to communicate with the country without an official White House press secretary.
