بعد وقوع مذبحة رابعة، اعتُقل الناشط البارز علاء عبد الفتاح لأول مرة في نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2013، على خلفية أحد الاحتجاجات. ولا يزال اليوم من بين آلاف المحتجزين تعسفيًا لإلهامه المصريين بالتطلع إلى نظام سياسي يحترم حقوق الإنسان ومبدأ المساواة.
