“There are 3 ways to succeed in this business: (1) dropdown, (2) uptier, and (3) double dip. Well, I don’t double dip. And although I’d like to think we’re pretttty good at organizing the req lenders, it sure is a hell of a lot easier to just drop it all down.”

9/ But dropdowns do have important benefits vs an uptier
Unlike uptier transactions, dropdowns dont require majority consent of lenders, and can be executed without amending your credit doc
New lenders or investors are also more likely to partner with borrowers in a dropdown

2020 is when life switched from PvE to PvP
I swear SOMETHING broke in society after 2020 and nobody wants to talk about it.
And I’m not talking about masks, lockdowns, or COVID. I mean the FEELING of life.
Everything reopened. We went back to work. Restaurants filled up. Events came back. But somehow life still feels… different.
Years disappear faster. People feel more disconnected. Everything feels more expensive, stressful & rushed.
And somehow we’re all constantly exhausted. I can’t even explain exactly what we lost. I just know life before 2020 felt more ALIVE.
Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this.

We had a good thing, you stupid son of a bitch. We had the mortgage. We had the score. We had the one number every lender in America was too scared to close a loan without.
Thirty years. Thirty years, nobody could touch you.
You could’ve shut your mouth, raised prices bit by bit, and made as much money as anyone ever needed. It was perfect.
But no — you had to jack it 17x in five years. You and your pride and your earnings calls. You just had to squeeze every drop. You just had to be the man.
If you'd known your place and let the pennies roll in, we'd all be fine right now.
Instead, VantageScore's through the door, the FHFA's circling, and the whole industry's finally asking why they ever needed you at all.

When I was in hs, my friend group had an annual festivus / secret Santa tradition where we’d exchange grievances and gifts at Denny’s. Sr year, I told everyone NOT to get me WoW because I’d certainly get addicted and ruin my life. Predictably, they bought me WoW anyway. I gave it to my mom and told her to hide it from me; no idea what she did with it. I played it for a few hours once while visiting friends in London, which only confirmed that abstaining was the best decision I ever made.

@OctusCredit has adopted a similar mandate, with a broader set of models (pretty much whatever you desire). Yes, I asked if I could disclose this, and no, I won’t tell you what I think of it. Interested in how y’all feel tho
