Last Corn Belt dealer price numbers show this year’s ammonia & urea prices up 20-25% on last year (which in turn was already elevated at +18%). A 2nd consecutive expensive year for farmers. Inflation running hot. #fertilizer #fertiliser #Midterms2026
How much less is the coastal price? In September the Corn Belt paid ~$300/t more than New Orleans for ammonia: the widest gap this year, up from $191 in August. 640kt of fertilizer moved upriver - +64% on last September #fertilizer #fertiliser
Electoral impact? Corn Belt covers Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri & Nebraska. 46% surge in gas prices feeding into logistics $ for fertiliser, highly competitive races in Iowa and Ohio, house margin importance in others. Cost of living dominant factor. #Midterms2026
Fall ammonia is getting expensive in the corn belt. Illinois dealer prices: ~980/st on 30/10, up ~10% from late August. Tampa wholesale at $640/t. Big coast/inland price divergence. #fertiliser #fertilizer nitrogensignal.com/us-fertil…

The grid doesn’t have a technology problem. It has an adoption problem.
Here are 8 technologies that are already piloted, proven, and deployable at scale today, with receipts. 🧵
“Who benefits if diesel prices are high and gasoline prices are high?”
@SenTinaSmith says it’s the president’s donors, and calls it corruption that takes money out of your pocket.
Diesel hit a record $6.53 a gallon in September. Gas is still above $4.

More on CBAM, green and grey ammonia production cost dynamics and switching here #europol #energy nitrogensignal.com/learn/cba…
CBAM could decarbonise Europe’s ammonia imports without delivering a new EU production boom. One study puts EU-made green $154/t above imported green in 2030. RED III can recognise qualifying imports; selected EU projects may need low-cost power and production support
Imported green ammonia could undercut grey by $60/t in 2030 and $169/t in 2034, if costs are achieved. A 2024 H2Global contract at €1,000/t implies however that grey would remain cheaper at that reference
CBAM pressures grey ammonia exporters to compete on price and verified emissions. Vs imported green, grey CFR must fall below $643/t by 2030 or $534/t by 2034, or emissions must decline substantially
Our model shows that green ammonia could theoretically have a $400–500/t production-cost advantage over marginal European grey production #CBAM #fertiliser #europol

Today marks 20 years since Novaya Gazeta journalist Anna Politkovskaya was murdered in Moscow. She recognized Putin's true nature earlier than most—and the regime could never erase the truth she died to tell.
Oh
In 1992, Boris Yeltsin admitted the Soviets had a BW program. Months later, Frank Wisner — then Under Sec State — led a US delegation to Moscow to press Russia to come clean on its biological warfare program. Russia never did so.
What’s important in Wisner’s declassified speaking points (below) is the heavy emphasis on Russia’s plague weapons, including work on “genetic engineering and other techniques” & “to make plague bacteria resistant to antibiotics, and to make the agent more suitable for weaponization.”
The Irkusk institute is not mentioned by name, but rather indirectly as part of “the former USSR's anti-plague infrastructure” where agents were developed for biological warfare (p.4).
It is important that Russia release the details on what pathogen killed Dariya Shipilova, & whether offensive BW activities continue at the Irkutsk lab where she worked.
