1/2 Black women are the backbone of the caring economy. That's why I am asking you to give to the #CareWorks Fund, which supports Women of Color-led orgs in deploying small unrestricted grants to those organizations that provide advocacy, support workforce solutions...
Congratulations @barrett_bowling for an outstanding Thomas and Catherine Yoshikawa Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award Lecture at #AGS2024. Tremendous work on research participation & community participation across the lifespan!

The pendulum has swung too far.
Penalizing falls in the hospital has resulted in patients who aren’t allowed to get out of bed.
They get weaker, depressed, constipated, pressure ulcers and ultimately need SNF placement.
Ambulation should be viewed as a key to healing.

Moore v. US is a huge deal.
If SCOTUS strikes down the repatriation tax, massive corporations will get billions in tax giveaways.
Here’s the kicker: Justice John Roberts and Samuel Alito together hold stock in 19 companies who would get over $30 billion in tax breaks.
Unreal.

Many thanks to Judith Herman for her decades-long commitment to listening and truth-telling. "Truth and Repair" is one of the most important books I will ever have the good fortune to read. All clinicians should internalize these lessons.

What's in the House GOP's latest funding bills?
-An 80% cut in grants to schools in low-income areas
-Up to 70% cut in the fruit and veggie benefits for the WIC food program
-A $665 million cut to an EPA safe drinking water access program
The cruelty is the point.

If guns made us safer, America would be the safest place in the world.
But the opposite is true. Nowhere else do students, concertgoers and bank patrons get slaughtered on a daily basis.
Because as it turns out, it's all the guns that make us so unsafe.

It’s morally insane that a week after a mass shooting took six lives in our community, House Republicans only response is to expel us for standing with our constituents to call for gun control.
What’s happening in Tennessee is a clear danger to democracy all across this nation.

Disabled people and older adults shouldn’t have to wait weeks, months, years, let alone DECADES for the services that they need. This is why we need to pass the HCBS Access Act, making #HCBS mandatory in #Medicaid and eliminate waiting lists #CareCantWait oklahomawatch.org/2023/03/28…
