Dolores Huerta understood tough fights, long odds and the absolute necessity to do it anyway. From the United Farm Workers to the plight of immigrants, she organized and inspired generations to demand more from America, always putting working people at the center.
Each time I had the privilege of being with her, I witnessed the alchemy of wisdom and conviction. She loved our people, and her passing simply lights the way for others to take up her call. My heart is with her family and all who loved her. May we honor her extraordinary life by doing as she urged: "walk the streets with us into history."
Jill and I are mourning the loss of our friend Dolores Huerta, a giant of the American labor and civil rights movements.
For more than seventy years, Dolores fought for working people. She organized in the fields, she walked the picket lines, and she sat across the table from people who never expected to have to negotiate with her.
I say often the middle class built this country, and unions built the middle class. Dolores understood that in her bones. Well into her nineties she was still traveling, marching and organizing for working families, for women, for immigrants, for LGBTQ Americans.
Even this year, she showed a different kind of courage, telling a painful truth she had carried for sixty years so others would not have to carry theirs alone.
America is fairer and more decent because of Dolores Huerta. Jill and I send our love to her entire family, and to everyone who found their voice because of her.
May God bless Dolores Huerta. Sí, se puede.

Kamala Harris said this 8 years ago: "I will tell you guys we have a predator living in the White House. Let me tell you a secret about predators. They prey on the vulnerable. They prey on those who they perceive to be weak. The thing about predators is this - they're cowards."

Obama: "I am the father of two daughters. Do you think I could have survived their childhood without going to the Cheesecake Factory? I lived at Chuck E. Cheese and the Cheesecake Factory. Of course the real problem is prices have gotten so high a lot of folks can barely afford to go out to eat."

I'm really hoping people will really get out and vote.
The last time Obama went on the campaign trail, him, Michelle, Hillary begged y'all to vote & 90 million of you sat tf at home.
I'm exhausted, nervous, scared, & angry.

Dolores Huerta was a hero of mine.
When she co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, people thought Dolores was crazy. “How are you going to organize farm workers,” she remembered being asked. "They are poor, powerless immigrants.” But that’s exactly what she did, helping thousands of migrant laborers working in brutal conditions make their voices heard, and demand something better.
Dolores spent the rest of her life fighting for marginalized communities, even as she herself faced sexism and abuse — including, as she revealed earlier this year, from Cesar Chavez and others within her own movement. She also came up with a pretty good slogan, “Si, se puede” — Yes, we can — that I too often get credit for. But as usual, Dolores got there first.
Michelle and I are thinking of Dolores’s family, the people whose lives she changed, and everyone who drew inspiration from her example.

Flashback to that time @SusanSarandon got in the face of Delores Huerta for supporting Hillary Clinton on 2016.
10 years later Delores Huerta dies a hero of the American labor movement while Sarandon is remembered salivating at the idea of a Trump presidency.

Dolores Huerta was a pioneering labor leader and legendary civil rights activist. Amidst the struggle of the movement, her rallying cry, "Sí se puede," was a call to stay in the fight.
The work of Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers was a driving force for change across California and our country. Her brilliant organizing and fierce negotiating came to the national spotlight during the Delano Grape strike, and countless people benefited from her decades-long career. Thanks to her, immigrants and workers won better wages, working conditions, environmental protections, and voting rights.
I was blessed to know Dolores for many years and proud to organize alongside my dear friend to champion working families and immigrant rights. I will always be grateful for her support and friendship. We will honor her legacy by continuing the fight for the dignity of every person.
Doug and I send our love and prayers to the four generations of loving family she leaves behind, the community she built, and to the millions of people who have been touched by her work.
