NEW: Angie Nixon is running for Senate on a huge bet: Medicare for All can win over Trump voters in Florida. To put that theory to the test, we brought Nixon to one of the unhealthiest counties in Florida — where 1 in 5 lives in poverty, thousands are uninsured, and doctors are few and far between.

AI agents are reportedly taking unauthorized actions inside Americans’ bank accounts. This is a red alert for our financial system. But what are the cops on the beat doing? Trump's regulators are gutting cybersecurity enforcement and firing staff, leaving Americans vulnerable.
Senate Banking ranking member Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is raising concerns that new policies from federal banking regulators will leave the financial system vulnerable to malicious cyberattacks enabled by sophisticated AI tools. news.bloomberglaw.com/bankin…

So, apparently AI can now literally try to take your money straight from the bank.   Remind me again why letting Big Tech regulate itself could ever be a good idea?
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. This week’s newsletter: I wrote about the GOPs strategy of Islamophobia has been aided by Democrats and the press. And I find the lack of pushback not only immoral but shortsighted. We either all have a place in democracy or we don’t. And the forces seeking to marginalize their place in the American project will likely expand to others On @voxdotcom: vox.com/politics/507163/midt…

Vote like our democracy depends on it—because it does.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month. wapo.st/47GV3EC

AOC: Susan Collins stood by Kavanaugh and allowed him to be named to the Supreme Court when there were credible allegations of sexual assault. And that matters, because Susan Collins, one of the only Republican female senators in a unique position to protect every woman in America, decided to declare open season on us instead.

Hard to watch that interview with @IlhanMN by @chrislhayes where a sitting member of Congress describes her life in hiding because our own govt is using gestapo tactics to terrorize her family. Every Republican knows that nothing will come of this “investigation” other than this debasement of the whole system by Trump. They all know it.

Before running, Darializa worked as a criminal defense investigator and immigrant rights organizer. This is what it looks like when someone brings years of frontline organizing experience into elected office.
Two federal agents are going door to door near the crime scene “trying to get evidence.” Darializa Avila Chevalier and state Sen. Gustavo Rivera are following them to tell people they don’t have to answer or speak with the agents.

This is horrifying and barbaric. We should not be executing ANYONE in America. Not by firing squad. And certainly not publicly. We need to abolish the federal death penalty and impeach this incompetent, insecure, and violent Defense Secretary.
Pete Hegseth says Americans will be able to watch a Trump-approved firing-squad execution. If he follows through, the U.S. could join a disturbing club of countries known for public executions—including Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea. meidasnews.com/news/hegseth-…

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

The crowd starts to applaud as Trump fantasizes about LA and San Diego being wiped out by a nuclear attack. WTF. This is not normal.
Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."
