When I was 5 years old, I was a small, weak child. It was a year before I was scheduled to get open heart surgery to correct a congenital septal defect. The doctors told my father not to coddle me, however, so when I told him a bully in our summer bungalow colony in the Catskills was constantly pushing me around, he gave me sage advice: “David, bullies are scared little boys, who take out their own frustration on those weaker than they are. You need to stand up to them or they will NEVER leave you alone.” At the time I just stammered back “But Gary (the bully) is so much bigger than me..” My dad smiled and simply said, “he may be bigger, but, the next time he bullies you, punch him in the nose . No warning, just hit him right there” (as he showed me how to do it with the heel of my hand). So, it happened that a couple of days later Gary started to bully me and I hit him in his nose, hard. The response was immediate, He grabbed his face and started crying and yelled that he was telling his father on me while running home… A short time later, Gary and his dad showed up at our bungalow. After listening to Gary’s father my father said something I will NEVER forget. “I am PROUD of David for standing up to your ... son. I TOLD him to hit back because it was the ONLY way to stop your son from bullying him. He’s been bullied all summer and won’t take it anymore..” After a long silence, Gary’s dad turned to him and softly asked “is that true? Have you been pushing this little boy around?” Gary started crying again, knowing HE was in big trouble… I tell this story because it perfectly encapsulates human nature and applies (verbally) to the crowd of antisemitic bullies on social media. Unfortunately, most don’t have strong role models to teach them and most will ignore how stupid they look when confronted with how dumb their lies about Israel committing genocide or Jews trying to gain supremacy are. At the same time, those useful idiots continue to ignore Hamas and IRGC PUBLIC statements that their GOAL is the annihilation of Israel, meaning the genocide (killing) of 7 MILLION Jews. Here in the West, there has been enormous damage to the Jewish community, from propaganda being spread by a combination of evil doers and useful idiots. As with bullies, many of these people are doing so because of their own need to feel important combined with their perception of Jews as easy targets to gain popularity. Faced with social media bullies pushing this destructive nonsense, many of which hide behind anonymous handles like scared little boys, it is like my father said all those years ago. The only response is to hit back, and keep doing so, until they stop. It is particularly needed now, as anti-Jewish racism is getting out of control as it has done numerous times before in world history, with disastrous consequences. THAT is why you are seeing me comment on these issues more. I am channelling the lessons learned when I was 5... (As an aside, those enraged by these declarations should go back through my posts. I have not received ONE coherent response to any of my arguments or rebutals, but LOTS of name calling and false statements that do not survive fact checking)
