another year of @glitchmarfa magic in Marfa
🤍🤍🤍
grateful for the @artblocks_io crew, spearheading another AB Weekend this week in Marfa TX
and v honored the curation crew at @glitchmarfa has the opportunity to show new code-based work from one of my fav artists
@mpkoz
this friday, october 23rd @ 8:00 PM
mpkoz's new collection ‘Believers’ is about religion and technology
where in both, people create systems outside of themselves and surrender some degree of knowledge and agency
placing trust in intelligence we cannot fully see or understand
historically, religious stained-glass objects operated as representations and filters between reality and the realm beyond
so too do @mpkoz’s twelve ‘Believers’
twelve sculptures, each with their own distinct color palette and composition, randomly dictated by code
painstakingly constructed by the artist in physical form
and paired with an associated art object on the @ethereum blockchain
this friday at 8:00 PM (CT), join us at @glitchmarfa in the cathedral
where you’ll witness a ritual, through which one of you will ascend
in a live performance constructed by @magey_mage x @mpkoz, in partnership with the @glitchmarfa curation team
all twelve pieces will be on display at @glitchmarfa
fire off a DM to me or our team to learn more ❤️
This is even more true in Europe
In contrast to the US, where there’s capital demand due to AI, we only have capital demand by the state.
More capital demand and higher cost of capital for the state won’t lower inflation, quite the contrary …
I'm increasingly partial to the argument that increases in the fed funds rate will do little to lower inflation, and may be counterproductive.
- AI investment is unlikely to slow because interest rates are slightly higher
- Energy is highly inelastic and rate changes can't alleviate the current supply shock
- Higher rates hurt supply-side solutions in housing, energy, autos, and other capital intensive industries
- Higher borrowing costs raise business operating expenses, some of which is passed along to consumers
- A large percentage of debt is fixed-rate, dampening the feedback loop but hurting new homeowners, small businesses, and investment
- An economy increasingly dominated by services is less sensitive to rate changes
- This century has repeatedly demonstrated how blunt interest rate policy can be, both in stimulating inflation when it's low and suppressing it when it's high

curious about this
how’s it possible that the models are insanely smart and the writing is terrible slop?
let’s see!
this is why everybody loves ant and hates oai
“we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.”
i mean props to them for straight coming clean.
(so far the proof looks more along the lines of another euler blowup proof we had, off of whose ansatz naming we were making really stupid puns like “smooth criminale”, unlike the much better “ideal fluids explode”, Tristan)
so i’ll now give a bit on my thinking here. i actually woulda been pumped to collaborate on this, there are a lot of people at oai i like (ok, clearly some were indirectly dicks to me because of being part of the whole situation, but im a big boy, i still like them), idgaf about authorship on that step anyway, coulda been me Tristan and every fte at oai for all i care (on that Tristan would disagree:p). but on hearing the loud convo in the hallway, especially the part where a millennium prize was offered if i’d just be removed from the paper, it was kinda clear the die had been cast and things were locked. pretty wacky, unstrategic, and unnecessary, since on my side things were mostly me and claude having a good time yoloing random stuff in the corner rather than anything institutional. i also like the idea of the labs cooperating, and even better on scientific progress. it’s a shame!
a company that lost any ethical orientation
We congratulate Levent Alpöge and Tristan Buckmaster on their remarkable mathematical work.
We (the researchers and the agents) did not see any of their work through any means until they released it publicly — in particular, no specific user data was accessed in order to solve this problem.
While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.
However, our proofs differ significantly and even the precise results proved are different in the Euler case (forced vs. unforced).
“The painter does not paint on an empty canvas, and neither does the writer write on a blank page; but the page or canvas is already so covered with preexisting, preestablished clichés that it is necessary to erase, to clean, to flatten, even to shred, so as to let in a breath of air from the chaos that brings us the vision.”
🤍🤍🤍🤍
it’ll take me longer to process all of this than it did to create the collection itself. but for now, I can say thank you. anything written here would not suffice for the gratitude that envelopes every cell in my body currently. to the folks who reached out prior to the drop with well wishes. those that spent time with the collection in any capacity. to the people who ended up winning one.
to glitch the fucking best partners in history. to transient. to anyone whose ever read a single word by me. or enjoyed a single smile from a stupid meme. or departed reality for a moment in an animation.
I created things for so long in a vacuum of unbridled isolation for so long, it’s a really special thing to have found people who enjoy the things I make. and make things of their own. or collaborate through shared stories of midwestern depravity or happy nostalgia.
thank you.

"toppled statues cherishing the destruction of permenance"
Stoked to add this beast to my collection.
Thank you deeply @toadswiback, and of course @derekedws, @magey_mage, @maltefr_eth, and all the @glitchmarfa team.
Going to be hard to top this one.

dying is not enough
'the next 1000x' by @glitchmarfa
the first, last, and only episode

this has golden era eth vibes
Yesterday was my last day at the Ethereum Foundation.
Today we are launching EthSystems. We build confidential systems for institutional Ethereum.
I've spent close to a decade building privacy infrastructure in crypto: p2p messaging at @ethstatus, developing Waku protocols at Vac (both now part of @logos_network), mobile proving tooling with @zkmopro, teaching zero-knowledge proofs with my zkintro primer, and advising @ethereumfndn on privacy and access layer strategy. Most of that was aimed at individuals.
The past year at EF's Institutional Privacy Task Force (IPTF) we've been looking at privacy for institutions. On the surface this might seem different, but there are a lot of similarities. There's also a very strong market need for it, and the timing is right.
I've written in the past about the tension and overlap between cypherpunks and institutions. Twitter is not exactly the best medium for nuance, but right now we are at a sensitive point in time: the defaults for the next generation of financial infrastructure are being set, with or without us. I believe we need cypherpunks in the room when that happens.
Excited to start @eth_systems together with my co-founder @motypes and @_rymnc as part of the founding team. See quoted announcement thread for more details.

let’s break the internet this week
Replying to @glitchmarfa
seventy five 1/1 artworks on ethereum
no reserve auction
open: July 14 @ 9:00 AM (PT)
close: July 15 @ 6:00 PM (PT)
impossibly back
🤍
glitch Gallery is proud to announce that the namesake artwork from @toadswiback 'dying is not enough' has been acquired by @Blondie23LMD x @RaoulGMI on behalf of 'Something Bigger' for 50 ETH.
All other seventy five 1/1 artworks will be made available via no reserve auction starting July 14th @ 9:00 AM (PT).
The 'dying is not enough' namesake work is a concentrated expression of the larger collection's central theme.
It gathers the emotional core of the project into a single loop - every lost memory, every feeding-tube drip, every quilt falling to the floor, every machine hum, every flower in the waiting room, every hand reaching for what remains.
It is a meditation on loss, memory, erosion, and the strange persistence of being remembered after the self has begun to disappear.
dying is not enough
