A very healthy crop in Buhera rural. It’s very possible to grow potatoes in sandy soils you just need to apply the right fertilizers and monitor your irrigation schedules for nutrient leaching. This is 1 of many projects under our company management.

Send the word POTATO to 0783936477 on WhatsApp & learn about how we are managing farm projects for people living outside Zimbabwe and those staying in cities and don’t have much time for full time farm monitoring. You can even visit our farms and learn on the ground for reference

Previously on becoming millionaires in 5 yrs…
We are expecting 3000 pockets/ha. At the moment 15kg pocket is going for the lowest $5 so if the price remains like this in November when we harvest this Mazowe crop will give us $15k…Ko price ikadzoka pa normal $7 to $10????.

Today we added another ha of potatoes not for a client but our company. Of all the 36ha we have planted so far this season 6ha are under a special partnership where the clients are not paying us anything we just share the profits after harvest. One day will become MILLIONAIRES
The first million is the hardest but if you grow 1ha of potatoes now with $6k then get $15k to $20k and reinvest it for the next 5years that $1000000 is very impossible . This is one of our projects in Musengezi. We have a total of 43 projects across the country
Seed now at Matapiri $32 to $35 per pocket you will need 100 per ha that’s $3200. Fertilizer around $1500… chemicals another $1000. Land preps $300…. Labour and other expenses zvaku depend ne farm. Income: if done well you can get 45 tons to 60 tons (VERY REAL) now calculate
US$6,000 to grow 1 hectare of potatoes, with potential returns of US$15,000–US$20,000? Ummmmmm 🤔😂
I know absolutely nothing about potato farming, so I'm genuinely curious and would love to learn from those who know this business.
What actually goes into that US$6,000?
Seed, fertiliser, chemicals, labour, water, irrigation, electricity/solar or diesel, harvesting and getting the potatoes from the field to the market?
And what are the biggest risks? Disease? Pests? Water problems? Weather? Electricity? Theft? Or simply the price of potatoes falling when you are ready to sell?
Also, what yield per hectare are we talking about to generate the US$15,000–US$20,000?
And forgive my ignorance on this one 😂, when you say returns of US$15,000–US$20,000, is that the money generated from selling the crop, or what the farmer actually has left muhomwe after all the expenses?
I'm genuinely asking because I'd like to understand how potato farming works. If the numbers make sense, maybe this is something more Zimbabweans should be looking at. 🌱🇿🇼
Potato farmers, agronomists and anyone in the business, educate us. 😂👇🏽

This is 1ha of potatoes we’re managing for our client based in Harare. He got an 8-5 job so no time for farming but he wanted to utilize his farm so we came in. As you can see from the picture below, crop is healthy. We got 43ha like this across Zim for town & diaspora clients
