Looking forward to @JohnHealey_MP commitment of 3% of GDP spending on Defence in the Autumn budget. There is an expectation for this to be a central part of fiscal policy. The Veteran Community wish to see this signed, sealed and delivered @UKLabour @andyburnham @LeePitcherMP
Think that was one of my favourite @bbcquestiontime episodes. We found areas of agreement and disagreement, but where we disagreed we disagreed well. How it should be. A pleasure to debate the issues with you @TomTugendhat @EllieChowns @GeoffNorcott @MyStephanomics.

I have done polling research (with YouGov in fact) where I found voters also strongly prefer the constituency link and that there should only be one MP per constituency. Difficult to square that with proportionality!! – at Leamington Spa, England
On electoral reform, the public have been consistently clear for a long time that they’d prefer a proportional representation system over the current first past the post model. Will Burnham be able to find consensus on the exact model of PR, however?

Labour is transforming how the justice system treats victims of sexual offences, with specialist rape courts to be rolled out across the country.

Women and girls should be able to live their lives free from violence and abuse. But when these crimes happen, we need a justice system that properly supports victims. So we’re making changes.

Given the House of Commons has deep fried food on its menu, it would be reasonable to assume that MPs and the the Government would lead by example and ban it BBC News - Deep-fried food banned under new school dinner rules in England - BBC News bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy4z…

The Falkland Islands will always be British. Given Argentina is a young country, there is an argument for Spain to regain its territory from 1800s You cannot claim what you have never had. Trump is the cause behind the recent rhetoric and hot air.
Milei’s statement overnight tells us more about domestic politics in Argentina than it does about the Falkland Islands. The Falklands are British because Falkland Islanders choose to be British. Our commitment to the Falklands is absolute and unshakeable 🇬🇧 🇫🇰

Absokutely staggering. Very Tragic. This kind of behaviour in the Civil Service is the tip of the iceberg. Senior Managers allowed to institutionally act in this manner BBC News - Dad of woman who took her own life says Treasury failed in its duty of care bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0re…

Looking for solutions is commended Richard. However, a Labour government reaching out to ex Tory Ministers @AmberRuddUK @DavidGauke to conduct prison reviews particularly when the last government closed all the prisons and created this current debacle. Mindboggling
Good, clear communication. Responsive to public opinion. Focused on solutions. Not accepting no for an answer or hiding behind process. Political leadership, in other words. How refreshing.

Well said👏👏
Today I join others from across our game and call for Gianni Infantino to resign as FIFA President. Infantino has debased the office that he promised to elevate. He has lied, deceived and tried to feather his own nest at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve.  He has lost the support of his senior staff, his closest advisers, the vast majority of people who devote their lives to this sport and even, it would seem, the FIFA Peace Prize winner.  It is too late to save his dignity but it is not too late to save football. He should go. Now. #Infantinout dailymail.com/sport/football…

Streeting is absolute disgrace and a liability for the Labour movement Andy Burnham started off really well and this type of behaviour is already undermining the good work. Not funny. He should be sacked immediately I cannot take this guy seriously. @andyburnham @LucyMPowell
I hope everyone can see there was no ill intent behind this ribbing of the new Justice Secretary - it was a reference to an old May/Clarke joke. But I appreciate these are very serious issues and am sorry for any offence inadvertently caused by this moment of levity.

Congratulations Louise. Can we now sort out Capita and bring Civil Service pensions back under State control. They are a disgrace. Civil Servants are losing out on their pensions. There is a total lack of confidence in the system
We’re pleased to welcome Louise Haigh as First Secretary of State, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office.

Sadly, the Argentinian team have brought shame on your nation. Politics should be kept out of football. FIFA needs to take action and send out a signal that this behaviour should not be tolerated Argentina need to be removed from the World Cup for the spirit of the game. Period
Argentina players take banner from their fans and bring it onto the pitch, it read: "The Falkland Islands are Argentinian." The moment happened after the team beat England in the World Cup semi-finals. Read more: trib.al/UbNzB4j
