There are people on TV tonight and they will be there tomorrow, wearing poppies whilst advocating for WW3. They don't want Peace. We should start a petition to vote for journalists to be sent first to the front, no matter what age they are. Journalists Expeditionary Force now.

When everyone has a camera in the bedroom, making using it potentially a criminal offence with 2 years "chokey", is either completely mental or extremely cynical.

This professor of law at a university may ‘think’ it’s about that - but the law clearly had an entire section on ‘possession’ which means any consenting couple who filmed either one of them in a school uniform, or who say the words ‘mummy or daddy’ has technically broken this law
Everyone who passed these new laws appears completely unaware of what they actually say… and it doesn't matter what the law is about if the text lets it be used against people for any reason (cf. Communications Act 2003 and DPP v Collins)

Even KK isn't stupid enough to think that the loser can dictate terms - let alone terms like this. The EU-UK don't want peace, and will do anything to prolong the war precisely because peace means acknowledging they lost. Everything.
So, the EU hardliners lay down their terms for a peace deal: Ukraine in NATO Russian reparations Russians to be held accountable for the war Limits on Russia's defensive capacity in future A principle that concessions come only from the 'aggressor'**, in other words, Russia. I am delighted that we have a group ready and willing to negotiate a peace with Russia and is absolutely not maintaining a maximalist position and thus blocking avenues toward a peace. **(Interesting how Kaja applies that principle in the Middle East, but OK)

The vagueness is probably deliberate. The real agenda is banning porn and sex work (and apparently bjs.) These poorly-defined amendments further those aims.

Amusing to watch people who are daring to be a teeny bit skeptical of the Irish “Russia threat” still feel the need to throw in a little disclaimer. “Look, I know Russia is total evil and *insert random accusation about windows and balconies*…BUT MAYBE this wasn’t them.” It’s actually okay to question the mainstream consensus without doing that, guys. It’s not a requirement.
To be clear, I think Russia is a ruthless authoritarian regime that regularly throws senior officials off high-rise balconies and assassinates its opponents - I don't doubt their willingness to do something brutal if it served their interests, it's not like this is beyond them morally or something. With that said, logically-speaking, why would they call in bomb threats against random Irish media outlets? What is the logic here? How would that benefit them? Would seem to make zero sense on its face.

"we need to get the conviction rate up" Why bother with a trial at all? Just do it with quotas.
The prime minister says rape trials should “not leave the woman feeling like she is on trial in court”. He tells Times Radio’s Anna Mikhailova he will look at changing the law. “We need to get the conviction rate up. It has improved, but not enough.” @AVMikhailova @AndyBurnham

I just received a message from the outskirts of Kiev: "Nobody here wants to fight against Russia, and our Ukrainian armed forces are now like a bucket with holes in the bottom. New recruits are constantly brought in, while almost everyone who can, hides or flees. Even people with an exemption from mobilization are being kidnapped. Some training camps have turned into prisons to prevent people from running away. Recruits get handcuffed during their transfer to the east. I was born in Kyiv and live there. I'm almost 25 when my protection ends, and I wish for this country and this government to collapse as quickly as possible, because that's the only way to end the situation here with the Nazis who occupied this country in 2014."

'Govt figures said the conundrum was working out how to avoid the lavish banquets, gilded carriages and other opulent flourishes that tend to be the hallmark of state visits to Britain' well, yes it would be, wouldn't it? maybe state visit not best idea
Excl: Britain to host Zelenskyy for a state visit next year, to signal the strength of the UK’s long-term commitment to Kyiv. The plan poses a diplomatic challenge for Whitehall and Palace officials, who are brainstorming how to create a programme appropriate for a wartime leader. Govt figures said the conundrum was working out how to avoid the lavish banquets, gilded carriages and other opulent flourishes that tend to be the hallmark of state visits to Britain, while ensuring the occasion is still visually arresting and impactful. King Charles, who as head of state would be Zelenskyy’s formal host, is enthusiastic and open-minded about creative proposals for the agenda, the people added. The fifth anniv of start of the Ukraine conflict, which has already lasted longer than WWI, looms next year. Zelenskyy has made more than a dozen trips to UK since Feb 2022, and is expected to be invited to the G20 in Manchester next Nov. But a separate state visit would hold special significance. “What’s very important is showing that there is widespread, cross-party support — almost beyond politics — for Ukraine in this country,” said a UK govt figure. Showcasing national cohesion on the issue iss “crucial for the people of Ukraine to see, but also for the Russians to see”. ft.com/content/bc1814b7-fbd0…

"The West" has sanctioned Russia more than any state in history - with the open aim of destroy its economy, society and state - and is fighting a five year proxy war against Russia in Ukraine that it deliberately provoked and sustained - justifying the vast cost by pointing to Russian dead - while its drones and missiles attack Moscow. But UK legacy media war whores complain about the "hybrid war" Russia is waging in their heads.
“Russia wants to destroy the West.” Matthew Syed of the Sunday Times warns we’re “tilting towards war” because of Russian hybrid warfare efforts in Europe. #Newsnight

If your law is so poorly written that you think it’s perfectly reasonable that someone should be arrested, prosecuted, risk being put in a cage forever, be traumatized, and lose everything just to see what your law really means, your law should be thrown out and so should you.

By aligning itself with the uniparty on the Ukraine war, @reformparty_uk has abandoned its claim to put Britain first. It has also crippled its ability to fix this country's problems should it gain power. @Nigel_Farage is morphing his party into cheeky chappie @Conservatives.

I would like to make mention that the act of CPR requires pinching the recipient's nose and placing your mouth against theirs We know logically that this is to give your breath to them, but any photographs and videos will only depict restricted airflow your law bans CPR

If there is any kind of competency test, this was it. Then again, blaming incompetence might be too kind. The vagueness may well be deliberate.
She needs to be recalled. She has admitted she has no idea how the law she wrote herself, that affects us all, will be applied because she didn’t consult lawyers or experts before putting it forward and voting on it. Flagrant incompetence and abuse of her position.

the view of MPs is that they should be able to do whatever they want, inflict whatever idiot half-understanding they hold of any given issue on the entire country, and no-one should even be rude to them in response
My friend @Jess4Lowestoft is a hero and a champion for women and children’s safety every single day. Disagree with her if you want, she can take it. But the horrific character attacks this week should give us all pause about what our politics has become Proud of you Jess x

Using accurate language matters. When they say “Age Verification” it means reducing rights to privacy. When they say “ID Laws” it means stopping free use of the internet (which they criticise China for 👀). What they say “Porn Laws” it means reducing freedom of speech.
