Lol "freedom isn't free." The term, of course, originated with regard to short term rentals and whiney "hosts."
As an Airbnb host, I’m honestly sad about the new rules.
Starting Nov 20, guests no longer have to clean before checkout.
So I’ve updated my listing:
Cleaning fee: $180
Cleaner arrival fee: $40
Cleaner emotional support fee: $25
“Guest didn’t strip the beds” fee: $35
Trash disappointment fee: $20
Checkout time: 6:15am, yeah even in winters
Nobody is forcing you to do chores.
You’re simply choosing between chores and fees.
Freedom isn’t free.
Totally new and not exactly how it was 20 years ago
It's not a conspiracy theory to say that the ban is needless micromanaging
Replying to @Jolly_Jingo_250
As expressed there, yes.
But my point is not to throw shade at other bishops who choose to regulate this how they deem to be right. The point is Bp. Beckmann, my bishop, is following that instruction and the spirit of the reform, as well, as expressed in SC. The conspiracy theories are not warranted.
I won't be taking lodging advice from a dude called FourPlex Guy.
I actually agree with the hosts here that the guests should clean after themselves after they leave. That should be the bare minimum. I don’t use Airbnb regularly but that last times I did I cleaned because it’s a personal residential property that belongs to someone and you need to respect it.
As a landlord I expect my tenants to leave the unit spotless after they move out. I actually expect my tenants to pay a cleaning company so they clean for them and show proof of receipt. Otherwise I’m deducting the costs of deep cleaning from their security deposit.
I set my expectations very clearly in the lease agreement
This is why serious people cannot take tech companies seriously.
In 2019, I interviewed remotely for a role on Apple’s evangelism team. I thought it was going pretty well. Then, at the end of my presentation, someone turned on their camera.
There had been an unnamed participant on the call the whole time, camera off. I’d assumed it was a meeting bot or something.
It was John Geleynse.
I’d seen him on stage so many times, and suddenly he was on my interview call. I was a little starstruck.
“Hey Anders, nice to meet you. Now we’re going to do some speed dating.”
He asked me to grab a pen and paper and draw an Apple Watch, an iPhone, an iPad, and a MacBook as rectangles, keeping their sizes proportional to each other. I fumbled through drawing some rectangles and held the paper up to the camera.
I have no memory of what happened after that. All I know is I never heard back 😂
Boy the comments didn't go well here
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?
Enzler is sufficiently stupid that he didn't know this stunt will cost him any chance to get Catholics back into the oval anytime soon.

"It is not clear whether the attending bishops themselves understood that video and photos from the meeting might have been used in a political context."
Which speaks volumes about the quality of the US episcopate.
USCCB spokesperson Chieko Noguchi told The Pillar Thursday afternoon that the meeting was “not organized with or by the USCCB” and was “not affiliated with the conference.”

I don't hesitate to admit I'm an idiot in certain areas, so educate me: why do platforms like Kalshi call betting "trading"?
Time to fire up a Te Deum
Just in from the Pope's doctors, Luigi Carbone and Stefano Margaritora, on Leo's postoperative recovery: No need for further treatment, the cancer was localized.
The literal translation of what they said, for those who speak doctor: "Today, the final histological reports and molecular biology test results were released regarding the tissue removed during the Holy Father’s surgery. The results confirmed that the tumor was a pulmonary adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. A subsequent oncological evaluation confirmed that no further treatment is necessary."
Michael A. Skaggs retweeted
JUST IN: Pope Leo's doctors have detailed his test results
They confirm the tissue removed in surgery was pulmonary adenocarcinoma (non-small cell lung cancer) and it was localised
They add that: a subsequent oncological evaluation confirmed that no further treatment is necessary.
In my not very humble opinion, "See" by @ISO50 is probably the perfect ambient track.
