From January, foreign criminals will start being deported immediately after sentencing without serving any time in jail.
But is this really justice?
Victim groups are warning it's "immoral" as it will leave victims without any sense of justice: thetimes.com/uk/crime/articl…
The probation watchdog calls on Andy Burnham to exclude violent and sexual offenders from the early release scheme.
The PM is due to announce the outcome of his review on Monday.
Martin Jones says he's "nervous" about the scheme and says the Parole Board should be deployed to decide on the release of violent and sexual offenders:

A total of 752 migrants crossed in nine boats yesterday - making it the busiest day of crossings so far this year, Home Office figures have revealed.
Four migrants died in two separate failed launches, taking the death toll for this year to at least 14:

Only police officers from the specialist Compagnie de Marche unit have the authority to intervene to stop migrant boats in the water.
That's why the Gendarmes in these photos and videos are seen doing nothing to stop the migrants getting onto the boat.
What started as cat and mouse between the Gendarmes and the people smugglers at 5am ended in utter mayhem in the water by midday as migrants scrambled for a place in a dinghy.

NEW: Andy Burnham has announced a pause to the government's new early release scheme for prisoners that was due to come into effect in September.
He said: “I am working closely with the new Justice Secretary and have instructed my team to put a pause on the changes that were due to start in September.
“No prisoners will be let out under this policy until we have conducted an urgent review and done everything we can to minimise risk to the public."
(as revealed by @thetimes last night: thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…)
This is a pause in the planning, not necessarily the start, of the early release scheme.
MoJ says it still intends to introduce the measures on September 2, albeit with changes.
A deputy governor of a prison told The Times: “We’ve been told to put planning on hold until it’s clear what the new ministerial teams’ intentions are.”
