might as well post this here traditionally hand drawn 48FPS loop done in Flash 8 and Animate 2024 animated over the span of like, 200+ hours. 83 individual drawings

took some photos during a power outage early this morning. 30 second exposure, fairly high ISO settings, and very cold white balance. cleaned these up with some contrast been a while since ive seen a clear night sky like this

did this walkcycle today, feels janky as hell to me but still a bit of fun to do. moving away from super clean sketches and approaching things a bit looser than usual. getting back into the groove

oh yeah, animated in TVPaint mostly 2s at 24FPS. some 1s sprinkled in just to fix up timing/spacing issues i had at first

I think the final hurdle for AI is taste the people generating these things have no taste, they can't tell when animation is good or not, when ideas are trite or not. They don't know. So when we artists say "this sucks lol" they cannot comprehend that and think we lie.
A lot of you are coping, AI animation is 95% of the way there and you should be terrified instead of lying to yourself

this is as best as i can explain the process. once i have the hard base for front and 3/4 down, i build the halfway perspective out of both heads and line them up as close as i can, and then tween from their initial shapes.
Replying to @mayyde
Were each layer’s frames interpolated with shape tweens then broken into frames for correction or all layer’s frames were actually meticulously arranged until it reached its destination frame? Hope i don’t sound too crazy.

the rest of the rotation is basically this same process, just between 3/4-profile and so on. The toughest thing is figuring out the layering, but it's easy to move the keyframes onto another layer to shift them up and down the stack as well

i only used shape tweens for the hair, as it's the most complicated shape to move in perspective, and skewing a flat object won't get it right. also shape tween the lines and fills separately, convert to keyframes, and merge them afterwards. it saves so much headaches

writing up something about making rigs and realized i have to explain turnaround drawings for flash, symbol registry points, symbol optimization, vector point collapses, and limiting filesize flash is crazy man

what i find funny about this is that I could 100% create this rig in Flash 8 from 2005 and it would function exactly the same. the techniques that I used to build this have always existed in the Flash environment, I just finally figured out how to do it in my artstyle LOL
this flash rig stuff is really fun

i am simply following the ancient texts, trying my best to make some crazy shit just because crazy shit is fucking awesome as hell. plus that explosion of good brain chemicals when all the tweens just lined up perfectly for the angle shifts had me screaming in joy

real quick i should mention this, I am not a vtuber. I am not making a model and i dont have any intentions of making any vtuber models or anything like that. this is a really complex animation production asset that i put together in a couple days
