Couldn’t agree more. One of the most beneficial components for human function. Specifically in sports
Sleep may be the most underrated performance enhancer in sports. And the simplest experiment is to get a little more. Move bedtime earlier by 15 minutes at a time and track what happens to your speed, strength, reaction time, and recovery. Before a major competition, bank sleep for a week or two. Do not place all the pressure on the night before. And do not panic over one bad night. The bigger problem is sleep loss accumulating across several days or weeks. More sleep. Added gradually. Banked before competition. No catastrophizing over one imperfect night. That's the strategy @michaelgrandner outlined in our recent podcast discussion.

Sleep health considerations for the new year 👀 🎉 💤 🧠 🏋️‍♀️🏋🏻
Sleep is a better predictor of longevity than diet or exercise, according to new research. Here are some helpful targets: at least 7 hours of sleep each night, at least 90’ REM, at least 60’ deep sleep, and oxygen saturation at least 94%. sciencealert.com/one-critica…

Sean McVay said, "Show me anybody that's great in anything they do, I'll show you somebody that's persevered, demonstrated that mental toughness to overcome some obstacles and adversity." Mentally tough people persevere. It requires a willingness to go beyond your current limits. • It means being resilient. • It means being adaptable. • It means being emotionally intelligent. 7 Strategies for Being Mentally Tougher: 1. Start with your Attitude and Habits - Your attitude and habits are a choice. Your attitude can turn a difficult situation into an opportunity and your habits can build action on those attitudes. Create a positive mindset and productive routines to lay the groundwork for resilience and growth. 2. From Now On, Problem = Opportunity - You can't always control what happens, but you can control how you handle challenges and setbacks. Reframe challenges and see problems as chances for growth and learning. This growth mindset reminds you that challenges are only challenges if you let them be. 3. Win The Self-Talk Battle - Your self-talk is either going to empower you or defeat you. Negative self-talk is common, but you have to eliminate it or reframe it if you want to succeed. By improving your self-talk, you give yourself support and become more resilient when those tough times appear. 4. Focus on What You Can Control - The most mentally tough people know that "you can control what you can control." There is nothing you can do about a failure or a painful moment because it's in the past. Channel your efforts and concentrate on aspects you can influence, enabling you to manage stress and maintain a sense of agency. 5. Train Hard, Compete Easy - Preparation puts you in position to succeed because you have done the work mentally and physically. When you practice your hardest, your natural instincts and creativity will take over when the time is needed. This allows you to act and not overthink. 6. Visualize and Strategize - When you visualize your future, you clear the mental clutter around your vision, clarify your meaning, and reflect. Visualization helps your strategize for where there might be future obstacles. This allows you to be prepare for challenges and obstacles before they happen. 7. Believe In Your Future - Positivity is a choice. Belief is a choice. When you view the world this way, you are promoting a positive attitude and a growth mindset. It matters because it brings strength, resilience, and hope during those tough times.

Good example of actual French contrast. I see this confused a lot with complexes… 👏
French contrast training is a great way for athletes to develop power. The below video features an example tailored towards vertical leap. Any other coaches utilise French contrast training?

Considerations for clarifying views of KPIs 🙏
This is great! I hear many performance staff that are too invested in the results of the athletes/team they work with... ...which means they can rarely detach or be present. Work like this is going to help to detangle that. I would add, this has to form part of the picture regarding impact - it's not the whole. Ultimately the connections of people with people can't be objectively measured, but they are a huge part that unlocks "performance" Example: international athlete returned to play, first game back scored... they ran straight up to their rehab coach to celebrate... ...not for the goal... ... but for believing in them, being there as a friend when they were down, and the journey they'd been on. Never undervalue the human element.

We’ve got some fast guys 😳 💥 💨
St. Louis Battlehawks’ WR Gary Jennings reached 22.5 mph on this touchdown. This is the fastest max speed we clocked in the #XFL this season. #ReelSpeed

Interesting considerations that I pounder daily with my Oura ring 🤔
Imagine... you wake up feeling great, but your objective data (HR, HRV etc.) say the opposite. You're thinking about what to do with your day... What do you listen to most?
