I don’t have enough words for how impressive I think @MelissaMean and the @WeCanMakeHomes team are, there systematic thoughtful human, neighbourhood scale demonstration of what is possible at a much wider and deeper scale. Very excited to be here today as part of the first visit of the Re:Builders programme alongside @DarkMatter_Labs, @FircroftCollege and Material Cultures.

As we start to turn more intentionally towards our retrofit street demonstrator and Neighbourhood Public Square next phases @CIVIC_SQUARE, we are opening up another collective journey looking to learn alongside the construction industry in the West Midlands who are looking to move towards regenerative practices in the built environment. Through a range of inspiring site / practice visits, classroom learning, mentorship and practical hands on building with bio based materials, we will explore how organisations can transform their practice to be fit for the futures we need.
We are working alongside Material Cultures, @DarkMatter_Labs and @FircroftCollege and would love you to share this outside of Twitter at your local construction site, in your families, on Facebook anywhere where you know there is an interest in shifting practice in construction, and working with partners trying to do ambitious work.
Do you know someone working in a small to medium construction business in the West Midlands? Share our warm invitation to join Re:Builders | Routes to Regenerative Construction in the West Midlands led by @civic_square, @DarkMatter_Labs + Material Cultures bit.ly/ReBuildersWM

Yesterday we celebrated who we are and what we do by exploring our college Values, led by @LouMycroft, and applauding our staff who help us to be @FircroftCollege with tea, cake and staff awards. Well done colleagues, the holidays are nearly here! 👏#learningtobecomeabetterworld

Wonderful to welcome Doug Wright MBE, @HighSheriffWM24, to the college last week to talk to our students and see the benefits they receive from our oasis of green in Selly Oak 🙏🙌#LearningToBecomeABetterWorld
As athe High Sheriff of the West Midlands, I had the pleasure of visiting @FircroftCollege of Adult Education at the Cadbury Family Manor.
Established in 1909 by George Cadbury Jnr, the college was created to empower workers to enhance their knowledge and skills, enabling them to reach their full potential and share their learning with their peers. Following George's passing in 1954, his family home and 6 acres of gardens in Selly Oak were repurposed into a vibrant centre of learning, known today as Fircroft College.
Fircroft College's strong ethos of social justice, inherited from the Cadbury family, drives its charitable mission to assist those in need through education, embodying values of inclusivity and societal progress.
During my visit, I had the privilege of meeting with students and staff, gaining insights into the college's impactful work where they offer a diverse range of courses, including personal and social development, functional skills (maths, English, digital literacy), work and volunteering opportunities, programs tailored for individuals from new communities, green skills and sustainability initiatives, as well as academic courses to support career advancement and higher education aspirations.
My visit to the Cadbury Family Manor was enriching and left a lasting impression of the college's profound impact on individuals here in the West Midlands.

Really pleased to have updates on our LSIF projects, including this great piece of work on green skills, led by @FircroftCollege. Www.greenskillswmw.com Fascinating to see the extent to which @WestMids_CA residents are (or are not) already engaged in green skills provision
