"It is [Athanasius'] glory that he did not move with the times; it is his reward that he now remains when those times, as all times do, have moved away."
-C.S. Lewis, Introduction to 'On The Incarnation'
1. Still think this being a gov't snafu in some way would be preferable to a known Christian turning out to be a criminal & his family having to deal with the fallout.
2. Entering legally and remaining legally are obviously distinct categories.
3. If remaining legally isn't met the working with a lawyer is irrelevant.
4. I do hope they get clarity; the DHS statement should help toward this aim.
Update from the Seys:
“My husband Samuel Sey entered the United States legally and has been working ever since in good faith with a lawyer to obtain permanent legal status. Our family is trying to understand what went wrong in the process. In the spirit of Romans 13, our family fully supports and respects American law and are prayerfully working to get him home through the legal process.”

I am shocked… SHOCKED to discover that “principled conservatives” don’t actually care about the Constitution or law and order and are effectively open borders advocates labeling anyone who actually cares about the country a Nazi

Show us pictures of some of these “reckless visitors.” I have a hypothesis.

🚨Today, Texas Children’s Hospital has officially launched their Detransition Clinic 🚨
Under the settlement, TCH must provide multidisciplinary detransition-related care FREE OF CHARGE for five years, including endocrinology, surgery, primary care, fertility counseling, mental health services, social work, and speech pathology.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude once again to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and my attorneys at the Burke Law Group for their extraordinary dedication, sacrifice, and tireless efforts throughout this fight. Their commitment helped turn a painful and difficult chapter into an opportunity for meaningful change. @KenPaxtonTX @BurkeLawTweets
I think of all the detransitioners who have suffered in silence, been dismissed, and fought desperately to have their voices heard. This win is for them.
I hope TCH’s admirable effort to fund and launch Americas first detransition clinic becomes a turning point for the entire country. That this clinic is not the exception, but the first of many.
Today’s a good day. ❤️

Over the last decade, millions of Christians have become far more politically discerning.
They’ve considered content from outside “approved” channels.
IOW, they’ve done what Darling suggests here.
And Darling and his peers are not happy with the consequences.

The more history of mainline Protestantism I read the more I have come to one conclusion: Liberal Protestants were, and still are, Christian Nationalists but you aren’t ready that conversation.
Guys, it has been a *rough* run with people in the Christian community falling. You'd think at this point nothing would be surprising.
I'm nonetheless shocked by this. Hopefully it is some kind of procedural confusion. I've been on the opposite side of Sey for a while on important issues but I'm still truly stunned.
Mr. @SlowToWrite may claim he isn't Black, or, if he is, that it's somehow trivial; but it seems that Butler county jail in the great state of Ohio says otherwise.
Update. Awful.

I have received a statement from DHS regarding Sam Sey:
“On October 21, ICE arrested Samuel Sey, an illegal alien from Ghana, at the Columbus International Airport. Sey entered the United States legally in 2022 but overstayed his length of admission by over four years, in violation of our nation’s laws. Sey has no pending applications and accepted voluntary departure. He will remain in ICE custody until removed from the United States.
“We do not pick and choose which laws to enforce or where to enforce them.
“We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.” - DHS SPOX
As I get more information, I will update.

It looks like @SlowToWrite overstayed his legal residence in the US by years. And apparently, he may not be legal in Canada either, as DHS has described him as "from Ghana." He is now voluntarily deporting. Does he deserve this? Yes. The difficulty for his family is on him - not our immigration laws, nor on his theological or political views. The GiveSendGo fundraiser's claim that he is a legal resident is false.
Yet, he only "got what he deserved" in terms of his facing the legal consequences for his failure to follow immigration laws, not because his views or his color warrant removal.

Was rooting for this to turn out as an error on the gov't. side. As much as I dislike the turn Sey in recent years I take no joy in him falling into lawlessness.

Raul Malo is without a doubt one of the best country music vocalists ever, and most people have never heard of him.

Help me out here. Been thinking about Top 5 greatest Country Music *vocalists.*
Feel confident in the top 3:
1. George Jones
2. Randy Travis
3. Patsy Cline
But 4 & 5? This is where I fall into preference I think. Merle? Keith Whitley? Verne Gosden?
Glad to read all the replies. A batch-response:
1. Lots of George Strait love. Appropriate. I'd say this - I'm talking about *vocalist*. Hank (Sr.), Strait, and Merle are my top 3 greatesr country artists as whole performers. Not convinced he's quite top 5 as a vocalist but do love his voice. Same with Hank.
2. Lots of Reba love too. That's a good call, too. She should probably be on the top 5 list.

The caliber of Robert E. Lee and the men around him is a marvel to behold.
“Look! There is Jackson standing like a Stonewall! Rally behind the Virginians!” These were the words of Barnard E. Bee, a South Carolina born Brigadier General for the CSA during the Battle of First Manassas in 1861. Moments later, Bee would be shot and killed, but his words would become almost immediately immortal.
Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson would go onto become one of the most famous figures of the War Between the States, as well as one of the most respected Generals in the annals of war.
His utter devotion to duty, aggressive maneuvers, and complete reliance on Christ and total surrender to God’s will has made him not only a military icon, but a Christian one as well.
As a General- his strategies and maneuvers are still studied by military leaders and universities to this day. Additionally, Jackson had a unique ability to somehow march his men more miles than anyone else in either army, and there was actually a reason why. Contrary to the prevailing sentiment of the day, Jackson gave his men 15 minute breaks every hour or so, and gave them sugar cubes and other energy sources when available, which helped keep them fresh and outpace other units who marched continually without rest. This strategy of Jackson was far ahead of his time and paid off mightily for his Stonewall Brigade.
As a Christian, Jackson was completely resigned to God’s will. When asked how he was able to say so relaxed in battle, he responded simply; “My religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death, I do not concern myself with that.”
Jackson, like many in his time owned slaves. However, like many of his fellow Southerners (contrary to most modern historians), Jackson loved his slaves and felt personally responsible for the state of their souls. He funded a black Sunday school for both freed men and slaves, and continued to do so throughout the war up to his passing. Out of the 6 slaves he owned, 3 of them personally asked him to buy them, and took his name after his passing.
Jackson was the ideal portrait of a Christian Solider, and one of the greatest men this country has ever produced.
