It’s funny when they bring this verse up as if Jesus was directing their attention away from His mother.
Instead, it’s obvious that Jesus is taking them into a deeper reality.
The blessedness of Mary does not exclude the fact that she bore Him and nursed Him.
But there is something even greater than these things that makes her blessed.
And Jesus tells us exactly what.
It’s that she heard the word of God and kept it!
After Elizabeth, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said “blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb” she also said:
“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
When we go back to Mary receiving the word of God from the angel Gabriel she says with full faith:
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
So Jesus is NOT directing people away from the blessedness of Mary His mother.
Instead He is showing them why she is so blessed. Not just because she bore Him and nursed Him, but because she is the prime example of the perfect Christian who heard Gods word and kept it with a perfect faith.
The verse in question is through and through about Mary as exemplar and by extension about us. We should model her in her faith.
Remember that time someone tried to venerate Mary in Jesus presence?
“As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!””
—Luke 11:27-28.
Catholics should take note.
Mary did not sin. She remained a perpetual virgin her whole life.
Anyone who does not affirm this is not in continuity of the Holy Church Jesus established.
If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
We’re so cooked.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

Gosh, I’d love to attend this debate. But I’m pretty sure I have a MAGA rally to attend that night…
If you have any doubt that the German Catholic academy has fallen into clownish irrelevance, look no further than this inane and ginned-up “controversy.”
Last summer, the vaunted “protest” consisted of 25 desultory septuaginarians holding signs and a statement from the theological faculty of the University of Munster, which was at an undergraduate level of sophistication and which betrayed not the slightest indication of any familiarity with my work.
And yes, that sound you hear in the background is Josef Pieper turning in his grave.
Why would we expect a Protestant who denies the reality of the sacrament to think you only get “part of” Jesus when receiving Him under the species of bread?
In the time of the Reformation it was a known practice of the Catholic priests to deny the people the cup during communion.
They would give them the bread but not allow them to drink of the cup. The logic was that these people might accidentally spill a drop and dishonor the blood of Christ. So, people routinely went forward for communion and were disallowed full participation and obedience to Christ, who instituted both bread and cup in remembrance of his sacrifice and in anticipation of his return.
In response to the Protestant complaint that this practice violates Jesus’ commands, the Catholic Church addressed it at the Council of Trent. This is an ecumenical council and is infallible (as far as they are concerned). The council decided that it would be official Catholic teaching that laity who eat only the bread and are refused the cup have done enough. They don’t need the cup.
A small but important moment demonstrating how false teaching gets enshrined and how Catholics are bound by their magisterium in ways that can keep them from obeying Jesus.
Countless Catholics will go to Mass this Sunday and be given only the bread, being denied the cup. Though they do make some exceptions for special feast days. Jesus and the apostles did one thing and the Roman Catholic authority does another.
not a bad presentation of the Gospel. If there was one way to get someone to understand their state in life and to turn back, this is the story you tell them.
Getty could’ve pivoted their money to Gen AI and become a hyper specialized image gen AI company with a massive treasury of training data they held licenses too.
Instead they dug their heels in and decided to be BlackBerry facing iPhone.
Replying to @Timcast
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW: Getty images is a stock photography company where you browse for photos of anything you want (people eating fish, cars with a flat tire, etc) then you pay a small license fee and can then legally use it in your article, ad, newspaper, website etc. The company was a powerhouse before AI because it was cheaper that having a staff photographer. Now people just create an ai image instead for zero dollars. Getty is a casualty of the advent of ai. All images on Getty are actual pictures taken with a camera btw.
Ironically “Harvest Festivals”…the term used by evangelical churches in place of Halloween…DOES have pagan origins!
My Catholic, Orthodox and old-world Protestant friends won't be surprised by this, but I imaging my American Evangelical friends will be!
I'd really appreciate comments on the video on YouTube.
Halloween is a CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY

Yes, the Jewish people are still here.
Why would “losing” be otherwise?
Not everything is an existential crisis. I don’t want you gone.
I pray for their conversion and that is slowly but surely happening. The lost sheep of Israel will be gathered.
That’s part of Gods plan.
Replying to @metathomist
The Jewish People are not only still here, we’ve rebuilt our state and are about to enter a golden age.
The Catholic Church supports infinity immigration into Western countries.
Who lost?
You lost.
There were like 50 different Messiahs during the Second Temple period. I don’t feel “stressed” that any of them were actually Moshiach. Why should I for Jesus?
Comparing the Gospels to other Jewish groups at the time, they’re nothing remarkable. His moral teachings are from Hillel. His legal teachings are from Shammai. He repeats a lot of what the Essenes said.
Do Christians ever worry that Mohammed was a prophet? No. Then I’m not concerned.
Nice video. But I thought you might actually demonstrate a simple fact.
Even if we did achieve the circular economy in Bitcoin (BTC), it is completely untenable as a medium of exchange because it’s slow, would become expensive to send small transactions, and you’d wait days if not weeks for confirmations in this hypothetical world where everyone switches to BTC.
The circular BTC economy is a complete joke.
The solution according to them?
Separate networks that also don’t scale and put people back in the same type of system they’re in today (also less secure).
But even that solution (lightning) admits you’d have to increase the block size to make it a reality.
The prot accounts are down so bad that they are doing victory laps when a Priest dies on video.
Loser mentality.

Jesus renamed Simon to “Rock”
Then says upon this rock I will build my church.
Prots: He changed his name to rock for no reason.
