I made a "shortfilm" about UFOs and Aliens with @midjourney, @ElevenLabs and @Kling_ai about UFOs and Aliens: "They are here."
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected.
Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions.
Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent.
But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?
We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem.

Models can seemingly degrade over time.
The following scenes were created with the same prompt and the same model, @GoogleAI's Gemini 3.8 Flash, by a user on DesignArena.
The first was generated just 3 days after release, while the second came almost a month later.
The difference is striking. The first scene features a finished bungalow with terraced gardens, while the second is barely recognizable.
Digging into the code, we find that the second scene still attempts to build the garden, windows, and patio, but buries much of it beneath its own terraces.
In aggregate, the share of objects never visible on camera jumps from 18% to 57%. For bushes, the share placed underground jumps from 0% to 100%, and even the house walls go from fully above ground to 64% below it.
Both scenes share the same simple user request, yet a few weeks after release, the model struggles to fulfill it. Try making your own generations and judge for yourself at DesignArena.ai!

Old School Bungie: I built the High Charity 3D asset for Halo 3, and my texture reference for its surface was a scone.
At the bakery today my kid wanted one, and it took me back to '06, the last time I bought a scone.
Ever used an unconventional reference in your work?

VIDEO: I finally found the most beautiful computer! New old stock from 1980. Never been turned on.
LOL. r/OpenSource has officially banned anything #AI.
Programs developed with AI? Not allowed.
Posts translated by non-English speakers using AI? Not allowed.
As a result, the community excludes quite a few things; even Blender and the Linux kernel.

The Co-Founder of FreeBSD, Jordan Hubbard, has taken FreeBSD… and put Omarchy on top.
He calls it “Daemonarchy”.
And, as expected, the Leftists of Open Source are not pleased. Because it’s a fun looking project. And, presumably, they hate fun.
They’ve already begun calling the FreeBSD founder “fascist”, “fossbro”, and an “a**hole”.

Pennsylvania’s AI Deceptive Advertising Act leaves a lot of loopholes. theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…
It supports many image formats (including RAW), batch processing, duplicate detection, offers offline OCR and a QR code reader, is 100 per cent portable, and features image editing functions such as resizing, colour adjustments, free-form and aspect-ratio cropping, and much more.
Of course, it's still far from finished. But it already works pretty well and is stable. And I'm no longer using it just on Linux- I'm using it on Windows, too. michaelfoertsch.de/uxzView/i…
By the way, many thanks to @thsottiaux: without his generous resets for the ChatGPT community, I wouldn't have made nearly as much progress over the past few weeks.
Over the past few weeks, I've been inspired to code an image viewer. Mainly because I needed an image viewer with specific features for Linux, and with many of the ones I tried, there was always something that bothered me or was missing. The viewer is called üxzView.

Dario Amodei was so worried about Y2K that his high school teacher still remembers it decades later.
He’s been a doomer for much longer than I thought!
Long before they were soon-to-be billionaires, Dario and Daniela Amodei were students at San Francisco’s most elite public high school. sfchronicle.com/tech/article…

Moonshot is taking a very interesting approach to cyber for its new Kimi 3.1 Pro model.
Instead of adding safety guardrails during post-training, they removed cyber-related data in mid- and post-training. This tries to address the problem of people fine-tuning away the safety guardrails for cyber for the open-weight model.
At the same time, Moonshot still has a more powerful internal version of the model with full cyber capabilities. Now, like the US, China’s true AI frontier is no longer public.
