The Hiawatha Avenue Mural on the Harvest States elevator, once hailed as one of the largest in the United States, was painted by my great uncle John Keltgen back in 1990. He passed away recently, so I wanted to swing by and capture the mural as it stands today.

Uncle Bobby’s (13359 S Avenue M) is another superb Hegewisch joint! Features an Old Style sign, a fish tank, a great looking old bar, and a back room for pool with a piano. The owner, Bobby, is a real good guy. Free pretzels and cheap drinks as well. It is a really fun spot.
