Trans people exist and they are trans. They deserve to be treated fairly by society and competently by physicians. However, males cannot become females or vice versa. If trans could accept being trans rather than insist on biological impossibilities we’d all have better lives.

I know it’s not the main issue just now but….when you recall Russell Brand was once invited to give evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee (on drugs)….maybe celebrity isn’t a good basis for giving advice to Parliament/Govt.
Not the only example.

So glad @Telegraph are coming at this bill from every angle. I hadn’t considered the impact on detransitioners - that simply sharing their experiences will be criminalised. She’s been attacked endlessly- now it’ll be criminal charges.
@JournalistJill excellent stuff.

I want to suggest, controversially, that the correct way to approach this is to be detailed and specific about what is and isn’t an unlawful conversion practice (whoever actions it).
Replying to @PeterTatchell
Ok just point us to the specific legal provisions in the bill that carve out the option for parents to say no to their children, when asked to go down a medical pathway that has no clinical benefit to them and significant health downsides.
Should be easy to do that, right ?
This is not behind a paywall and can be read in full
So pleased, The @Telegraph are all over this subject - there’s been pieces from the perspective of kids who would’ve called the police on their parents, Parents worried about talking to their kids, parents at school asking questions about teaching staff and businesses being liable for criminal proceedings… fantastic work.
Under new law, I’d have been arrested for protecting my daughter from trans propaganda telegraph.co.uk/gift/336b413…

It’s an indication that most people do not have a problem with trans people but don’t
agree with trans ideological claims that gender identity should trump sex in law and public policy and that all of women’s single sex things should become mixed sex.

Our position is unequivocal.
LGBT+ Conservatives DOES NOT SUPPORT the Conversion Practice’s Bill.
Our red lines have not been met. This Bill goes too far. Withdraw it in full.

Very powerful account by Goldsmiths pvc Adam Dinham (@a_dinham) on pressure faced by staff arguing for nuanced debate on campus. A new law that risks criminalising parents who question whether their children are trans must be scrapped, MPs, peers and experts have demanded.
‘Gender’, as opposed to sex, is an anti-scientific myth. If a child with a penis announces that he is really a girl, parents and teachers have a positive duty to educate him in the scientific truth that he is a boy.
Of course no parent should use physical or psychological abuse for any reason. But if anyone should be prosecuted it is those who abuse their duty of care by encouraging children in the anti-scientific delusion that they can choose their own sex.

Adjusted for inflation (converting mid-20th-century colonial welfare grants and post-war aid into present-day money values), the cumulative real value of UK financial assistance to the Caribbean region over the past century is estimated in the tens of billions of pounds.
I have not seen much reference to the distinction between consensual and forced 'conversion practices' lately. As gender identity is a medical condition (see CSH and SRS) it would be perverse if people could not ask to be cured (see detrans) or those providing help were jailed.
If toiling in the Conversion Practices Criminalisation Bill resistance you may wish to refer to entries in Rin's Dictionary of Gender Identities, all of which the Bill would make as equally normal and valid as woman and man. [I expect more have been added since this 2022 ed.] 1/2
Supporters of the Conversion Practices Criminalization Bill will be whooping and hollering 🤔
Lifting up both my daughters in prayer that they soon realize before completing medicalizing. It is a nightmare, to not know where or what they are doing. To lose them completely to this ideology. And the State just takes my youngest away because we wanted to give her information, isn’t that what ‘informed consent’ is supposed to do? I miss my sweet baby girls before they got caught up in this nonsense. It seems unbelievable that this could happen but I’m living proof that States take away your children if you don’t affirm.

Once you submit evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee for the Draft Conversion Practices Bill you get a request to complete a diversity monitoring survey. This question seems to exemplify how slippery is the concept of 'trans'. ("Wear different clothes" 🤣)
