@Missiveapp grew to $1M ARR by harnessing the buzz of VC-funded competitors with smart ‘Alternative To’ pages. @plehoux chats with @robwalling about how they bootstrapped their horizontal SaaS to over $8M ARR. Listen to ep 806 👇 startupsfortherestofus.com/e…

I’ve always wanted to build a feature with built-in free distribution, like Calendly. After +$7M ARR and years in my head... it's finally done! A win-win: free distribution for us, instant value for users!

We will live in a multi-model AI world. DONT: @NotionHQ AI, @SlackHQ AI DO: @cursor_ai , @raycastapp , @windsurf_ai The best AI products allow you to pick and choose the best model for the job. They allow you to bring your own API keys. The number of times I used Notion AI and I was underwhelmed by the results... and angrily copied pasted the document in Cursor just to get Claude 3.7 to do the job is just too many. Users want control. At @missiveapp, we currently support multiple OpenAI models with your own API keys. Anthropic is coming soon. And we plan to support all big models in the future. This is the best approach for customers, they can pick and choose an pay the lowest price, with no markup, for the best model. Agree?

It's working! I'm so happy
Missive is the best email app ever. I emailed them 2 weeks ago asking them to add a feature where I can use AI to tag emails as they come in. They just shipped it!

When 100% of your customers live in your product 8 hours a day, even small changes feel like rearranging their living room. 😱 Arnaud and I decided to reflect back on the latest update and provide you some behind-the-scenes thinking of how we got here 📹 youtube.com/watch?v=9AQuk_vd…

Confession: I use my inbox as a to do list. Your inbox is a mess, you're starring and snoozing emails as to dos, and you're telling yourself "I'll get to these later." I've done it. You've done it. We all do it. Some say you need to be a superhuman to manage an inbox. But here's the thing: your inbox is a terrible to do list. It’s all so important: Every ping, every "quick question," every "following up on this..." — they're all designed to feel urgent. But here's what nobody talks about: other people's emergencies aren't your emergencies. When your inbox drives your day, you're living everyone else's agenda but your own. Everything’s the same: Your inbox treats everything the same. A "Hey, can you review this?" could be a 2-minute glance or a 2-week project. It's like having a pile where you throw both paperclips and pianos. Makes no sense, right? Playing solo in a Multiplayer Game: Email was built for one person at a time. But real work? That's a team sport. When someone forwards you an email saying "Can you handle this?", you're already playing catch-up. Who else is involved? What's already been done? Good luck finding out without a bunch of back-and-forth. But here's the weird part: Despite all these problems, we keep using our inbox as a to do list. Why? Because that's where the work shows up. That's where things happen. That's where people are. So maybe we're asking the wrong question. Instead of "How do we get people to stop using their inbox as a to do list?" maybe we should be asking "How do we make inboxes better at being to do lists?" Something's cooking on that front. Dropping soon.

Support is not a cost to minimize! If you emailed Missive's support, for years, you probably got a response directly from the co-founders. No auto-reply, no support team "sending from our email". We were very, very incentivized to fix things. If we didn't fix the issues in the product, we knew we would be spending a lot of time replying to a lot of emails. It was cool to hear that our customer, Jacob Bank from @relay, shared the exact same philosophy.
