Exactly!! People are completely misinterpreting that interim maintenance court decision. South African law is very explicit that a stepparent is NOT legally obligated to take care of a stepchild.

FYI - the maintenance of an extra marital child is the exclusive responsibility of the parent of the child. Neither the wife or the joint estate is legally obligated to pay maintenance, even if married ICOP.
