He lost his grandmother two years before that, in 2017, right before he started high school. She had helped raise him. His mother, Linda Scott, raised him by herself. She worked at the California Institution for Men, the state prison in Chino, and the family moved to Chino Hills to be closer to her job. Before that they were in Rialto. He came out of Chino Hills High School as a two star recruit. Power 4 programs in his own state looked at him and not one of them offered him a scholarship. He was weighing Eastern Washington and Montana State when Wyoming called. "She thinks it's better for me because in California there's a lot of distractions," he said about his mother. "She thought Wyoming and Laramie was the best place for me to lock into the game and focus on me." Then he hurt his hand and lost his true freshman season. He did not get on the field until the final game of 2024. His cornerbacks coach in Laramie was a man named Benny Boyd. "There was obvious talent on the tape but it's more his personality," Boyd said. "We connected kind of through the tragedy of his dad passing away and my father passed away a lot of years ago now." "That was a connection, both having hard-working single mothers." "His mom is a very strong-willed tough woman who has raised him well." "I was raised in a very similar background, so I think we had an unspoken connection that way." Boss won the starting job at Wyoming in 2025. He kept writing the date. "I'm not going to lie; I shed a tear or two on the way to Akron because all those emotions hit me," he said. "I know they're not physically there, but I know they can see." "They're not here but I've got to make it happen because I promised them." In February of 2026, Benny Boyd took a job coaching cornerbacks at TCU. Boss entered the portal and chose Arizona, where the staff spent his visit talking about something other than football. "It wasn't just football conversations on my visit, it was life talk and family talk," he said. "That's what made me gravitate towards Arizona and make that decision." Arizona is 6 and 2 and ranked 22nd. Boss starts at cornerback. FRIDAY NIGHT, TCU comes to Tucson, and Benny Boyd will be standing on the other sideline coaching their corners. Before the game, Tyrese Boss will bend down and write a date on the grass. The man across the field is one of the few people in that stadium who already knows what it says.

After a weekend of nonstop frantic discussions and negotiation, Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta, sources told ESPN. The Atlanta Hawks-Cleveland Cavaliers game that night will move back to 8 pm to accommodate the doubleheader, just as the Hawks did for Game 4. This allows a potential Game 7 to remain scheduled for Halloween at Chase Center in San Francisco. All three Finals games in Atlanta have required hurried adjustments to the schedule at State Farm Arena. It took collective efforts from the WNBA, NBA, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners to figure out the best course of action again. By moving the game earlier in the day, the WNBA avoided a scenario where a potential championship game was played inside the Dream’s home arena, the 3,500 seat Gateway Center. The other option under strong consideration was moving Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday and Game 7 to an open date at Chase Center on Tuesday, November 3.

Arizona head coach Brent Brennan bought 1,000 tickets for local nonprofits and charities and youth football organizations to attend the Iowa State game. After the game, Brennan walked into Dirtbag's and bought around 300 shots (a $2,000 tab) for Arizona fans and then walked out. Amazing stuff. Man of the people.
