To arrest and jail Comey over the 3-day holiday weekend. That explains why DOJ refused to agree to let him voluntarily surrender.
Not only did Comey go to court to foil the plan, now the case is time-barred. DOJ can’t bypass the grand jury without Comey’s consent. Trump’s lust to jail Comey—and DOJ’s incompetence—killed the case.
