Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene; Birmingham Police are investigating the circumstances, with the contracted worker cooperative and questioned at headquarters, but no charges reported yet. DHR confirmed the child was in their custody during transport by the provider, who terminated the employee; due to confidentiality, no further details on the child or exact circumstances were released.
