Tuesday marked my last day at KTUL in Tulsa. It also marked my last day in local TV. From Erie, PA back to Louisiana and Oklahoma, it’s been one hell of a ride over the last seven years in the business. I’ll miss a lot, but it’s time for a change. #howyalldointonight #dowork

🚨FULL CATFISH ROUND UP RECAP🚨 Here's the story from the midnight coin toss chaos at the Catfish Round Up that sent Liberty and Central to the postseason, and ended the season for Gore. Reaction from each HC in here. One of the craziest stories I've ever covered. #OKPreps

Washed up former sports reporter here. Once had a NOLA reporter ask a BR coach about a player who wasn’t on the team and dude got laughed at by the coach. This is maybe worse considering it’s the NFL. Treat the job as a job and prepare and you avoid the embarrassment.
The internet is such a cruel place. She made a mistake and probably feels embarrassed. No need to make the situation worse.

At some point, we’ll realize that Americans don’t want a far-left or far-right country. We’re a nation filled with people who are desperately looking for sensible leaders in a broken political system. And the GOP did the opposite of what nearly every voter wanted. Thus, this.

Republicans are going to have a terrible night, and the simple reason why is that Trump has put up perhaps the worst *performance* this term of any president in a century or more. Remember that he entered with an actual mandate: the House and Senate, a popular vote victory and a swing-state sweep, and 6-3 Supreme Court. Democrats were afraid enough to vote for mild but real immigration restrictionist legislation in the Laken Riley Act. Everyone wondered how far the "Vibe Shift" would go. Trump managed to turn that into essentially zero durable wins whatsoever. He personally *hates* the very idea of legislation, the notion that he would have to spend time going back and forth with Congress, learning details and making compromises. So he simply didn't do it! He didn't make a compelling case for abolishing the filibuster. He didn't try communicating clearly to the public in support of popular bills to get to 60 votes. He just decided not to do it at all. So they passed an unpopular tax cut, some funding for ICE, and a sop to the crypto industry, and that was basically it. Least productive Congress in decades, due to the tastes of one man. Trump adopted one of the worst macro policies we've ever had: high deficits, high tariffs, and attacks on central bank independence. We managed to pay higher interest rates while still having high trade deficits AND weakening the dollar. Just a total failure. On immigration, perhaps THE signature issue, Trump essentially min-maxxed effectiveness and backlash. Instead of trying to leverage the political moment for new laws and a self-deportation agenda (that is, walling off the economy to remove the benefit of irregular presence in the US), he opted for a maximally aggressive approach. The administration spent attention, funds, legal manpower on stunts like deporting random people to Salvadoran prisons with essentially no due process. ICE and Border Patrol were encouraged to be aggressive and confrontational, which helped contribute to the shooting deaths of American protestors. It turns out, that's extremely unpopular! What about the approach of going after employers? The obvious vector? Trump hated that idea! He repeatedly has said he doesn't want to target businesses (especially farms) that use large amounts of illegal labor. This is just an incomprehensible position. Instead of charging a few dozen businessmen and removing the incentive for millions of illegal workers to be here, you arrest people off the street one by one at the cost of thousands of dollars in manpower per each, while their crying wives and kids post TikToks about it. Upshot on immigration: electoral strength turned into a crippling electoral weakness in exchange for deporting maybe 6% of the illegally present population. The tariffs were a total shitshow. Embarrassing rollout, no underlying theory of action at all. No targeted focus on key industries. Our country tariffed products we can't grow. We tariffed *inputs* of our own valuable exports. The schemes and amounts changed constantly, sending the stock market reeling and presenting scenes of chaos to the world. Trump's messaging throughout has been generationally bad. While facing nearly 2:1 unpopularity, he spends his days posting AI slop, saying he'll rename New Mexico or invade allies, among other bizarre remarks. He brags about a ballroom and a pool repainting while gas hits records. At no point has he ever attempted any kind of message discipline. Then there are the deeply unpopular attacks on rule of law, his "game-recognize-game" pardons for all manner of scammers and criminals, the crypto schemes that he and his family engage in, the evilly conceived and embarrassingly executed legal attacks on Comey, Jerome Powell, and others. With his monthslong stand on NOT releasing the Epstein files, he became maybe the first president ever to stake out a 99-1 issue on the 1% side. That's not even getting into Iran, DOGE, his candidate recruitment choices, or countless other things. Simply put: Trump has managed to royally screw up virtually every single facet of his presidency. It's been undeniable, voters have noticed, and there's really no escape from it. This is what the GOP base chose in early 2024, and this is the world they're living with now. Where they handed the reins of history to a fat, vain, washed-up old man and let him drive.

Everyone's been sharing their Ernie stories so here's mine: In 2016 when I was covering the Cleveland Indians postseason run, I just finished a live shot for @JET24Sports and heard a very familiar voice behind me. It was EJ. He got *my* attention...
It’s time. 🤟🤟🏾🤟🏻🤟🏽

and complimented me on setting up my own shot and nailing it (despite a few flubs I'm sure). He then proceeded to ask about my career and even asked to take a pic with...again..*me.* He totally treated me like I was the celebrity and not the other way around. Even crazier...

- he introduced me to Cal Ripken Jr like he and I were old friends. Truly one of the nicest moments I've ever had with anyone, but the fact it was ERNIE f'n JOHNSON remains one of my most special memories to this day. You deserve everything you want to do @TurnerSportsEJ .

Despite playing for Golden State, this guy is one of my new favorite players. Preach the truth, brother
Yaxel Lenderborg on his NBA debut and guarding Luka: "I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me... Being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. That was awful" Transcript of this soundbite: "Yeah, it was interesting. I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure. I had a lot of respect for him (Luka). You know, just watching. I didn't really watch the NBA much, I just watched highlights. Seeing him, you know, kill people all the time. But then being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect, man. Like that was awful. Like me getting frustrated, it's not about the foul being called, it's about him complaining the entire game. And then you get the foul call, congratulations bro. And then you talk to me like you did something great, bro? Come on, dog. That's just weak. It kinda threw me off for a little while, cause you know, like I said, I had so much respect for him. Gone man, gone. I was telling him he sucks, he can't score on me. You talking and you can't score on me. I said it the whole game. I said a couple cuss words obviously, you know, that's why I got the technical and all that. But I was letting him know, because he was laughing and talking all this because of that one foul call. His only bucket on me was a banker from half court. Like I know that it's a team sport. You know, he had 28pts on us as a team. Me, I took my matchup personally. Tried not to get caught on the fouls. Tried my best. I was thinking about playing him with my hands behind my back to see if that worked, probably would've still got a foul call." Transcript via: reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1x…

Journalism has long been dead and we don't talk enough about Adam Schefter's role in it
If no Insider has the MHJr trade team in the next 2 hours, wtf is even the point in them? Teams can handle their own press releases, your whole job is to get the information they DON'T want public.

An Oklahoma upset that would have defined a season and a rivalry in a previous era is now a hiccup for Texas. Alabama & Georgia are kicking off in a game that will … probably determine seeding. I still love it. I’ll always watch. But. Not my college football iwbh.

QB Vision was one of the best features Madden ever came up with. To this day, I have no idea why they took it out of the game. And yes, Brady and Peyton were super OP, but that was the point.
