In reality, NASA contracts are only a small single‑digit share of SpaceX revenue and are expected to be less than 5% next year, so claims that SpaceX is “subsidized” by NASA are simply false.
Commercial Starlink is by far SpaceX’s largest contributor to revenue
The SpaceX team won NASA contracts by offering the best product at the lowest price - not through subsidies or favoritism
NASA’s competitive, fixed‑price process chose SpaceX because the proposals were both technically strongest and most economical, and for astronaut transport, Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon are currently the only system that meets NASA’s full human‑rating and safety standards for regular crewed flights to the ISS
