We are living in a subsea moment…that’ll likely last a very long time.
'The Telegraph took four and a half years of satellite tracking data of Russia’s fishing fleet and laid it over existing charts. It found 17 trawlers from five companies loitering at low speed over the North Atlantic’s most important cables' @TomSharpe134 explains why the investigation has changed his 'thinking in three ways' 👇 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Wrapping a great time at MBP in San Diego. Was great meeting with our US and allied customers and the leadership from AIKUS this week. I’m surprised given the customer density the lack of representation from others in the subsea space. Plenty of legacy primes and USV defense tech darlings, just @BedrockOcean holding down the subsea. No complaints here.

Gonna be a great week in San Diego at MBP!
Three nations, one shared mission. The AUKUS programme is a cornerstone of defence for the 🇬🇧, 🇦🇺 & 🇺🇸. Maritime Big Play is now underway in San Diego and will showcase how all three partner nations can integrate, coordinate and fight together across the entire maritime domain.

This thing is a sitting duck in any conflict. Please build more, Xi.

I worked with the Allies for years as part of the NATO coalition in Afghanistan. The Allies were there bleeding alongside the US. Hegseth is full of BS.
Hegseth on Afghanistan: I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters. It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there. Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations. In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths. t.co/x4tGhxJiFG

Spot on. The ultra cheap, one way UUV manufactures have a role to play, but this isn’t going win a war in the Pacific or deter Chinese aggression in Taiwan and elsewhere.
The lessons from Ukraine cannot and should not be the lessons for the pacific.

It’s where Earth observation, where kind of space 2.0 was back in 2015, right?" It’s perfect. No notes.
Admiral McRaven: "Our current leaders are shameless and ignoble. They have no sense of dignity or honor. They seem to believe that the performance of curel power is what makes a nation great: the spectacle, the show, the crude theatrics of a tough guy. Nothing could be further from the truth." theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

The Kremlin-Apologentsia is alive and well in tech.
As I wrote a year and a half ago, Zelensky is incapable of making peace. Elections in Ukraine are long overdue.

An interesting #AUKUS Pillar II milestone as it continues to focus on undersea warfare. @redunley & I discuss in today’s #maritimematters podcast 🔗 youtu.be/OBEihdmg0pI?si=oPg3…

Yes. It’s called customer delivery 101 and has been for a long while when working with the military, offshore energy, mining and oil & gas.
Is your company willing to provide this level of field support?
