The last thing I want to say about this stupid discourse is that it's weird to me to frame it as fic writers being clout hungry. isn't it normal to want people to comment aka talk to you about your fic about the characters you both love? I post fanfic in large part to make friends and participate in the fan community. Of course fic writers aren't owed comments but it gets lonely and demoralizing if no one talks to you!
