Many people incorrectly understand dogs. You can tell who's who by replacing the dog with "my horse" or "my kid" in the story "My kid bit a kid": oh man what happened. Conflict resolution time "My horse bit a kid at the cafe": man wtf you doing bringing a horse to Starbucks
A friend of mine shared an absolutely insane story with me. Her child was bitten at an outdoor cafe by a nearby dog. BLOOD was present. The owner of the dog told her to get over it and accused the child of bothering the dog. WORSE YET... (read on)

'If the "kid" bit a kid and literally nobody cared, then maybe the "kid" owner had a point about the kid harassing the "kid"' you can always count on Diane xitter.cf/realdianeyap/status/21…

Stoicism never sat right with me, and I later figured out why: it's a terrible philosophy for fathers. Imagine trying to tell your kid that you always have to learn to live with bad things and never struggle to change them. It's no wonder Commodus turned out the way he did.
What’s the other outcome? What do you want to do? Lament on twitter? post about being a warrior? I think the world is fine because I understand the set bounds of the future and have already accepted them. A solar flare could knock out global power grids and the world would be fine the next day because everything is a matter of adapting as fast as you can to feedback loops.

I think the point of the film is that we can see everything …. And know nothing.

I’m getting mixed signals here
Being an ambitious girl in SF is quite lonely Most of the convos I have are with my agents or my engineers... I think it's time for a change to meet more girlies in the city @textditto built an AI agent that matches you with other females photonically and drops you a match every Wednesday at 7 pm. try it now on bayareabestie.com

uhh so electric scooters are riot bombs? seems bad
Imagine you have a lovely apartment in Rue de la Republique in Paris. Your apartment is on the 4th floor so you don’t think you are at risk from the rioters. Yet they set fire to a huge bin and start throwing electric scooters into it. The explosion destroys half of your apartment.

lol we didnt even shut down biolabs after covid
I suspect at this point it doesn't matter what the US govt says publicly about needing to accelerate AI. Within a few months at most, they will have no choice but to mandate a pause. The incidents will just keep getting worse until they do

we have too many people who are incapable of owning dogs with dogs, and the social stigma around dog misbehavior (keep them out of grocery stores, restaurants, controlled on leash, free to run in fenced yard only) has faded too much for the owners and dogs own good

Finally got my chance to pitch my AI SaaS startup to Tier 1 VCs and I absolutely blew it. They hated me. I knew my company was boring and had no moat so I tried to be like a Scott Wu type who could impress everyone with math party tricks. So that was my plan until 30 seconds before the pitch I remembered I’m functionally innumerate. So plan B was the only other party trick I knew: balloon animals. I gave my 60 second pitch as I made a balloon animal dog out of the condom I’ve had in my wallet for 5 years. Their reaction to it was “that’s rancid” and “get the fuck out of our office.” I guess resourcefulness isn’t appreciated in the Valley anymore. Just totally gutted and not sure what to do at this point.

wouldn't a 20 lb meteor leave a huge crater?
1992 a meteor hit her car. Back in New Jersey and New York almost everybody I knew had “the accent”.

This is basically the correct reading of None Dare Call It Conspiracy.
The "Deep State" isn't that deep; it's a microclass of 45-65 y/o Northern Virginia bureaucrats who are mostly inspired by social incentives and norms within their microclass rather than by cognizant ideological conviction. DOGE's failure is a bigger disappointment than Iran.

it’s easy to feel like every day we’re just stumbling through one way doors without any consideration and wouldn’t be better if we just paused and thought things through a little longer but then you must remember time is a one way door, we’re going through it either way
