Positive Headline of the Day! Assam Takes Learning Beyond Classrooms as Nameri Wild Classroom Connects Students with Nature.. The Assam Forest Department has launched the ‘Nameri Wild Classroom’, an educational initiative that will give school and college students an opportunity to learn directly from nature at Nameri Tiger Reserve. The programme reflects our commitment to nurturing a generation that understands, appreciates and actively protects Assam’s rich natural heritage. Open to students of Class VIII and above, including college students, the initiative offers two- and three-day residential learning programmes that take education beyond textbooks and conventional classrooms. Through direct engagement with the forest ecosystem, students can develop a deeper understanding of wildlife, biodiversity and the importance of environmental conservation. The programme includes birdwatching, guided forest walks, wildlife tracking and activities focused on river ecology. Students will also have opportunities to experience rafting on the Jia-Bharali River and learn about the traditions and knowledge of local communities connected to the surrounding landscape. Naturalists and forest personnel will guide participants, helping them understand the relationship between wildlife, forests, rivers and people. Students will maintain field journals to record their observations and receive certificates upon completing the programme. Our forests are living classrooms, offering lessons that cannot always be learnt from books alone. By bringing young people closer to nature, we can encourage curiosity, scientific thinking, environmental responsibility and a lasting appreciation for biodiversity. Nameri Tiger Reserve provides an ideal setting for this experience, allowing students to observe the natural world while understanding why its protection matters. Such initiatives can also inspire young people to explore careers and future opportunities in wildlife research, ecology and conservation. We believe that conservation begins with awareness and grows through participation. When children and young adults experience nature first-hand, they are more likely to become responsible stewards of the environment. Through Nameri Wild Classroom, Assam is investing not only in education but also in the future guardians of its forests and wildlife. Because some of life’s most important lessons begin when we step outside the classroom and discover the wonders of the natural world. #JayantaMallabaruah

A classroom without walls, right in the middle of a jungle. Sounds fancy? Well, we're making it happen at Nameri Tiger Reserve! Introducing ‘Nameri Wild Classroom’, an initiative of the Assam Forest Department where students of Class VIII and above, including college students, can experience nature beyond textbooks. Through 2- and 3-day residential programmes, students will explore birdwatching, forest walks, wildlife tracking, river ecology, rafting on the Jia-Bharali and local community traditions, guided by naturalists and forest personnel. Participants will also maintain a student field journal and receive a certificate upon completion. I invite schools, colleges and educators to bring their students closer to Assam's incredible natural heritage. After all, the best lessons aren't always taught inside four walls! A proud milestone for tiger conservation in Assam! Nameri Tiger Reserve has received CA|TS (Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards) approval, recognising its adherence to globally accepted standards in tiger conservation and protected-area management. What makes this achievement even more special is that with Nameri joining the list, all four Tiger Reserves of Assam, that is Kaziranga, Manas, Orang and Nameri are now CA|TS approved. This recognition belongs to the men and women working tirelessly on the ground. My heartiest congratulations to the entire @assamforest family, the Nameri team and everyone associated with this achievement. A significant recognition of Assam’s continuing commitment to protecting its tigers and their habitats for generations to come. @namerinptr

Visited Nameri National Park & Tiger Reserve today along with Hon'ble MLA Shri Padma Hazarika dangoriya and took part in a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening conservation, eco-tourism and community participation. ✅ Inaugurated the Nameri Silver Jubilee Convention Hall to commemorate 25 years of tiger conservation. ✅ Reviewed plans to promote community-based eco-tourism by encouraging local cuisine, homestays and sustainable livelihood opportunities for nearby communities. ✅ Distributed sewing machines to members of the Eco-Development Committees. ✅ Facilitated the appointment of Forest Department teachers in four local Lower Primary Schools. ✅ Provided initial assistance to promote homestays and tourist camps for enhancing visitor experience. ✅ Interacted with forest personnel, Ecological Task Force jawans and members of the local community. ✅ Inspected the newly afforested areas within the National Park. Under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa dangoriya, over 650 hectares of encroached land in the park were reclaimed last year. With sustained conservation efforts, I am confident that Nameri will continue to flourish as one of Assam's richest wildlife habitats. 📍 Nameri National Park & Tiger Reserve, Potasali

Back where the mighty elephants belong to! Grateful to Hon'ble CM for restoring our forests and wildlife and so that the wild can reclaim what is rightfully theirs
3 decades of illegal encroachment, cleared 3 years ago & Nature has reclaimed what was rightfully Hers. The majestic elephants are back at the southern periphery of Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary. Eviction DOES result in restoration and its continuation will be OUR policy.

Forest Conservation efforts under the guidance of Hon'ble CM @himantabiswa is doing wonders ! From just 3 tigers in 2022 to 12 by the end of 2025, Nameri Tiger Reserve has scripted a remarkable conservation success, validated by the Wildlife Institute of India. Adding to this achievement, the return of 2 tigers to Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary, the satellite core of Nameri Tiger Reserve after decades of absence marks another historic milestone for wildlife conservation in Assam. #TigerConservation @CMOfficeAssam @namerinptr @assamforest
