“We hoped it would end the harassment,” her mother told The Hindu. Instead, the harassment intensified as fresh wave of social media posts has emerged speculating that the girl in the apology video is not the same person seen at the protest. “I am fed up. I have lost my work. We had no option but to leave our house because police personnel and strangers started showing up,” said the mother, who earns her living by giving tuitions at home and has been raising her daughter by herself since her husband’s death in 2019. For the past three days, the protester against whom a zero FIR was registered last week for her “abusive” remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and her mother have been living at an undisclosed location out of fear. Their address was doxxed on social media and widely shared by the right-leaning accounts even as false identifying details in a zero FIR have fuelled days of online targeting of the 15-year-old girl. @suruchiarchives ✍️ thehindu.com/news/cities/Del…

He is our hero Sir! Thank you for recognizing our effort 🙏🏽
He was a schoolteacher in Kohima. Then, he became a soldier who fought on the icy heights of Drass. When his boots couldn't grip the treacherous terrain, Capt. Neikezhakuo Kengurüse of Nerhema took them off and climbed barefoot into enemy fire. He never came back. He was just 25. The Barefoot Hero of Kargil. Maha Vir Chakra. A proud son of Nagaland🇮🇳 Every peak they defended lets us sleep in peace beneath our own skies. Heartfelt thanks to Neha and Diksha for bringing Nimbu Sahab to life.

27 years of #kargil #LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Maj C B Dwivedi, SenaMedal (P), 315 FIELD REGT, stood at the Gunner's position in Drass area and continued to fire at the enemy despite being hit by a shell & bleeding profusely, he continued firing until his last breath. Remember the gallant #IndianBrave & his supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 02 July in 1999 Maj Dwivedi's unit, 315 Field Regiment was the first artillery unit to be deployed in Drass in the initial phase of Kargil war on 14 May 1999. On 02 July 1999, the Regt, faced with continuous firing had the choice to continue firing or to stop firing. The infantry units (18 Grenadier and 8 Sikh) would've been in serious danger had they stopped. Maj Dwivedi chose the former, rushing out of his tent and motivating his boys to keep firing, to keep attacking the enemy. Maj Dwivedi was at the gunner's position and was firing at the enemies, when a shell landed right next to him. His arm had been hit and some of the shrapnel had also entered his body from the side. As a result, he was bleeding profusely, still he continued firing until his last breath. Major C B Dwivedi was awarded the #SenaMedal posthumously for his exceptional courage and leadership Remember the #IndianBrave - his service, valour and supreme sacrifice🏵️ @nehadw @dikshadwivedi #RememberingKargil

So proud @kaneenikasinha didi!!
Next in who after the Ramanujan Series? To understand Prof. Kaneenika Sinha, we must envision a detective who does not look for fingerprints at a crime scene, but for statistical echoes in the infinite line of prime numbers. While others see primes as a chaotic, unpredictable sequence, Kaneenika studies the hidden patterns & distributions that govern them. The Sato-Tate Conjecture is 1 of the sophisticated problems in modern number theory. It deals with the distribution of certain mathematical objects associated with elliptic curves. It predicts that the angles arising from these curves follow a specific semicircle distribution rather than being purely random. Kaneenika Sinha works on problems related to the Sato-Tate conjecture & its generalizations, studying the statistical distribution of Fourier coefficients of modular forms. This line of research continues the deep tradition of analytic number theory that Ramanujan helped pioneer, now carried forward at institutions like IISER Pune. Unlike many from previous generations who felt they had to move abroad for Big Math, Kaneenika is a pillar of the IISER ecosystem. After her PhD from Queen’s University, Canada, she chose to return to India & build her career at IISER Pune. She is part of the growing reverse brain drain that is strengthening Indian institutions in pure mathematics. She is both a researcher & a contributor to building strong research groups within India. She proves that world-class research in mathematics can be done at the highest level from Indian soil.

Shared a beautiful morning today with daddy’s brothers in arms , honoring him and his other brothers in arms.🌸
The spirit of soldiering & enduring #regimentation lives on long after a #soldier hangs his spurs. #Veterans of 70 Reg & 53 Tech Course honoured their #fallen brothers-in-arms at the #NationalWarMemorial. Lt Gen CP Mohanty, former VCOAS, laid the wreath on behalf of the course.

Firecrackers are not a part of ancient Hindu culture. That does not mean they have not, over time, become a part of traditions around Diwali. I grew up bursting firecrackers and enjoyed them thoroughly. I hope for a future where younger generations can also find some of that joy. At the same time, my father grew up eating six modak a day during Ganpati. He now has diabetes because, unlike his grandfather, he is not compensating by toiling in the fields. Traditions evolve. They change with time. Bursting firecrackers is not inherently terrible - but bursting sutli bombs and kilometre-long ladis (for Diwali or Eid, in case the keyboard warriors come at this post in the comment) is simply illogical. The air we breathe is so toxic that children around us are growing up with stunted lungs. We have become so numb to air pollution that we normalise 150 AQI in Mumbai by pointing to 500 AQI in Delhi. And, what’s worse, we make even this a Hindu-Muslim issue to avoid any accountability. This Diwali, I hope for better sense to prevail - not just during festivals, but throughout the year. For polluting industries to be moved away from outskirts of cities. For construction sites to follow pollution norms. For the government to finally realise that they have been elected to govern, not just pass the buck.

There’s a haunting beauty in an artist straining for the notes they once reached. The voice bears the scars of all that has been lived in between - less perfect but more poignant. And as we listen, we find ourselves journeying through our own joys and sorrows. #LuckyAI #OSanam

While you are at it, might as well ask for all the humans attacking other humans too. If nothing else, it’ll get you perspective.
