You can count the people on your fingers. You owe the public an explanation: who is behind the inflated figures being promoted for Pahlavi? #PahlaviManipulation

Reza Pahlavi will accept the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Freedom Prize in Frankfurt on November 7 as a trustee for the Iranian people.
In Alex Winston’s reporting for The Jerusalem Post, foundation trustee Ludwig Theodor Heuss explains that the prize belongs to the Iranian people and is to pass to democratically chosen representatives. Asking Pahlavi to hold it does not endorse him as Iran’s future leader or a restoration of the monarchy, Heuss says.
Winston also obtained written responses from Pahlavi about his European meetings.

Former political prisoners from the Shah era, relatives of victims of the current regime, and Iranian associations oppose @FNFreiheit award.
A letter signed by 306 organizations worldwide speaks out against the decision.
Pahlavi was never elected by the Iranian people and does not clearly distance himself from his father's legacy.
Former prisoners accuse him of failing to explicitly condemn torture and executions carried out by the Shah's secret service.

For too long, most Iranian-Americans have anchored their politics in some combination of foreign interventionism, Islamophobia, and blindly pro-Israel and anti-Arab sentiments.
In this election, American voters rejected exactly those kinds of cynical beliefs.
Iranian-Americans need to rethink their values and their civic duties. We ought to be a constructive, progressive force in U.S. politics.
2028 will be a chance to make amends.

European liberals must not sacrifice their principles by hosting a divisive figure like Reza Pahlavi
“That is why reports that some liberal politicians in the European Parliament intend to host Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran's deposed Shah, raise serious questions. How can such an invitation be reconciled with the very values these politicians profess to uphold?

🚨 In a letter to European Parliament President @RobertaMetsola, 18 senior EU figures reject any return to the Shah’s dictatorship as an alternative to the mullahs.
“Reza Pahlavi does not represent the people of Iran and has no democratic mandate to determine their future.”
Iran achieved a regime change without initiating any lawless wars.

Iran actually changed the regime in the US without murdering a single war criminal and without dropping a single missile on school chidren or hospitals.
UPDATE: 62% of voters say the war in Iran was the wrong decison; 74% say it was a "crucial" or "major" factor in their vote.

How can the Friedrich Naumann Foundation award the son of a dictator who was toppled by the largest social movement in #Iran ? #RezaPahlavi has never rejected his father's brutalities — in fact, his clique intimidates & threatens his critics in the same way.

The war on Iran appears to be restarting, and inevitably there will be bad journalism. Qeshm Island is an important locality, but not because it's a military stronghold. Qeshm is a UNESCO Global Geopark and one of Iran's most ecologically diverse places

This is the fundamental problem with those who accept the NAZA framing—the problem is zionism, not simply its method of genocide. Israel and its settlers cannot have control over life and death for Palestinians. There is no legitimacy in murdering those engaged in resistance.

“Zionism has brought millions of people to a state of utter derangement,” Pulitzer Prize winner Benjamin Moser said, noting that pro-Israel commentators struggle to even acknowledge that Palestinians are human.
Moser questioned the value of platforming such views in the name of “balance,” comparing it to debating the merits of Nazism or inviting a member of the KKK to provide an opposing perspective when interviewing a Black guest.

Israelis have always elected leaders who want war and apartheid.
The only country that elects politicians for peace and negotiations is #Iran
Israel's newly elected government is a reflection of Israeli society and its Jewish supremacy
"Out of 120 seats, 101 of them [...] went to candidates who do not believe in equality or freedom for Palestinians. Why am I saying that? Because [...] the Palestinian-led party has got 19 seats. That's it. Those are the only ones who've been calling for equality and for an end to this system of Jewish supremacy. The rest of them are going entirely, [...] and let's be very generous, the rest of the seats are going to people who do not believe in equality, who believe in this process of Jewish supremacy. And so this isn't a Netanyahu problem, it's an Israel problem. Netanyahu is simply a reflection of Israel. That's it. And to somehow think that he's an alien when he's been the longest ruling prime minister in the country is just farcical. And even in this election, even after everything's been shown, he still managed to get 27 seats. His party still got the highest number of seats in this election." - Diana Buttu [@dianabuttu]
