October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. In honor of the event, Commissioner @nmilianorbis hosted the Disability Employment Resource & Career Fair to unite job seekers, employers and community partners to promote inclusive workforce opportunities in #OurCounty.
For 30 years, Raúl Castro and his crime family have evaded accountability. This warrant sends a clear message: time does not erase responsibility, and no dictator is beyond the reach of the law.
I commend Attorney General James Uthmeier, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Chief Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan for continuing the pursuit of justice for Armando Alejandre Jr., Carlos Costa, Mario de la Peña, and Pablo Morales, and their families, as well as all families who have lost loved ones to the murderous regime.

I was honored to join Christian Family Coalition Florida for the Miami Freedom & Awards Gala and celebrate the work of Anthony Verdugo and so many dedicated advocates for religious liberty and Florida’s families.
As governor, I’ll carry that commitment forward, standing with Floridians to protect our freedoms and ensure faith, family, and opportunity continue to thrive in our great state.

MDSO deputies responded to @iflymia this afternoon following reports of shots fired.
Deputies quickly responded and took a subject into custody. There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing. Traffic in and around the airport may be impacted, with vehicle traffic currently being diverted to the arrivals level. Travelers are encouraged to allow additional time and follow the direction of law enforcement and airport personnel.
We appreciate the public’s patience as deputies continue their work at the scene.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis secured unanimous support for a motion laying out a clear path forward if Florida voters approve Amendment 3 on November 3: deliver real property tax relief for families, without sacrificing the core services and public safety residents depend on.
"Families across District 6 are asking for real relief on their property tax bills, and I believe we can deliver it without cutting the services people count on most. That means a County government that runs leaner, protects our Sheriff's Office and fire rescue teams, and still puts money back in the pockets of working families and seniors. If voters approve Amendment 3, Miami-Dade needs to be ready on day one with a plan to make that happen."

🚨 TRAFFIC UPDATE 🚨
NW 67th Avenue between NW 25th Street - NW 32nd Street remains closed due to the ongoing response to the cargo plane crash.
Please avoid the area if you do not need to be there and use alternate routes until further notice.
I spoke with @CBSMiami this morning about yesterday’s Amazon Prime Air cargo incident at @iflymia and the incredible response from @MiamiDadeFire and the @MiamiDade_SO , who responded within just 30 seconds.
As operations work toward returning to normal, travelers should continue checking directly with their airlines for the latest information on delays or cancellations before heading to MIA.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis issued the following statement following the tragic aircraft incident at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon:
“Today, our community experienced a heartbreaking tragedy at Miami International Airport. An Amazon Prime Air cargo aircraft overran the runway, crossed the airport perimeter and struck multiple vehicles outside the airport.
At this time, officials have confirmed that five people have tragically lost their lives and five others have been injured, including three who remain in critical condition.
My heart goes out to the families who lost loved ones today and to everyone who has been impacted by this terrible incident. We are praying for those who remain hospitalized and for their full recovery.
I am incredibly grateful to the men and women of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and all of the first responders and emergency personnel who immediately responded to this scene. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded within just 30 seconds of receiving the call, demonstrating the extraordinary readiness and professionalism of the men and women who serve our community.
The surrounding communities, including the cities of Virginia Gardens and Miami Springs, are directly adjacent to the airport and our office remains in close communication with our neighboring municipalities as the investigation and emergency response continue.
The area surrounding NW 67th Avenue and Perimeter Road remains secured as local and federal authorities conduct their investigation. I urge residents to avoid the area, allow first responders and investigators to do their work, and follow all instructions from law enforcement.
There are still many questions that need to be answered about what happened today. We will continue closely monitoring this investigation and working with our federal, County and municipal partners as additional information becomes available.
Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Statement from Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis on @iflymia Amazon cargo aircraft:
Please stay informed and take precautions to protect yourself and your family from mosquito-borne illnesses.
🦟HEALTH ALERT: Health departments in Florida are warning residents of the spread of a mosquito-borne illness that causes very painful symptoms. "Breakbone Fever" is usually found in tropical and sub-tropical climates and is commonly brought to the U.S. by travelers, but cases are on the rise in the Sunshine State. foxweather.com/earth-space/b…

34 years ago today, Hurricane Andrew made landfall in South Florida as a devastating Category 5 hurricane, forever changing our community and the lives of so many families.
As we remember the destruction Andrew left behind, let it also serve as a reminder that hurricane season is not over. Have a plan, keep your supplies ready, and make sure your family is prepared.
Celebrating Fidel Castro, a murderous communist dictator whose failed regime destroyed Cuba’s economy, freedom, imprisoned dissidents, and forced generations into exile, tells you everything you need to know about the Democratic Socialists of America.
Every elected leader in Miami-Dade County, regardless of political affiliation, MUST immediately and unequivocally denounce the DSA.
There should be no room for communist ideology, extremism, or its influence in our schools, communities, or government.
This should not be a partisan issue. It’s an American issue. 🇺🇸
This is what happens when those who romanticize Fidel Castro are confronted with the truth.
For Cuban families, communism is not a theory or a slogan. It is a lived history of political prisoners, broken families, lost freedoms, and generations forced into exile.
An important clip here —not because of the incredibly awkward pause when the Castro-praising DSA guy doesn’t quite know what to say to Boris Sanchez— but because it exposes this cartoonish propaganda of those leftists who don’t understand Cuban history
Batista was a dictator
So was Castro
Many who opposed the Castro dictatorship opposed the Batista dictatorship. They’re not all sugar barons who fled their latifundias
Heartbroken by the tragic helicopter accident in Kenya that claimed the lives of Roger Duarte and six others. Roger was a respected Miami entrepreneur and a beloved member of a family deeply rooted in our community.
My prayers are with his wife, Nicole Valls Duarte, the entire Valls family, and the families and loved ones of all the victims. May God give them strength and comfort during this incredibly difficult time.
