PRAYERS TO OUR BRAVE NAVAJO SCOUTS WHO ARE ON THEIR WAY TO CALIFORNIA TO FIGHT THE WILDFIRES As more people evacuate the Los Angeles area from the blazing wildfires, our Navajo Scouts are answering the call to help fight and protect the millions of people in LA County who are fleeing their homes. I ask that we, as a united Navajo people, keep our Navajo Scouts, a Type 2 IA team, in our thoughts and prayers. Let us send them our heartfelt wishes for protection, so that they may return home safely after aiding our relatives in Southern California during this challenging time. According to reports from California Fire, there are currently five active fires: the Palisades Fire, the Eaton Fire, the Hurst Fire, the Lidia Fire, and the Sunset Fire. The Palisades Fire has already burned over 17,234 acres, while the Eaton Fire has charred approximately 10,600 acres. Both of these fires ignited on January 7 and have forced massive evacuations, destroying homes and property, and tragically resulting in five lives lost. The cause of these wildfires has been undetermined as of this social media post. However, extreme fire behavior has been attributed to the Santa Ana winds combined with the dry conditions that have been exacerbated by climate change. Our Navajo Scouts, a dedicated team of 23 members, including a courageous female wildland firefighter, are highly trained and available to combat fires like these for ten months out of the year. They represent various communities across the Navajo Nation, united in their mission to help those in need. Let us continue to pray for our Navajo Scouts and for the safety of everyone affected by these wildfires in the Los Angeles area. -Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren

Who made the Manhattan Project possible? Everyday Americans like the residents of St. Louis & St. Charles who gave their health to support their country. They deserve thanks—not mockery from outlets like the WSJ. And now they deserve the SUPPORT of every member of Congress

Radiation victims from Utah & Missouri & New Mexico and more will be in DC next week. I invite Mitt Romney or Speaker Johnson to tell these families to their faces that they aren’t “actually suffering.”

Imagine telling African-American kids from St. Louis who can’t go to school or women in St. Louis County who have the highest rates of breast cancer in America or the good people of the Navajo Nation who are sick & dying from radiation that they aren’t “actually suffering”

I will not support an NDAA that leaves behind so many Arizonans. From Prescott to Window Rock, we owe it to those who sacrificed their health for this country during WWII.
26-73: Senate blocked Hawley (R-MO) amendment to compensate victims exposed to nuclear waste radiation from being offered to the final version of the 2024 NDAA defense programs and policy bill.

When the government causes injury, the government should make it right. These are good people who have done nothing wrong. I will fight as long as it takes for the people of Missouri to get the compensation they deserve

Thank you to the Navajo Nation for inviting me to share a few words last night. Always an honor to come together with Tribes & Pueblos. As a member of @IndianCommittee, I'm committed to building trust that the fed government has charged itself with upholding to Tribal Nations.

Americans poisoned by our government’s nuclear tests & waste are set to lose the lifesaving help they’ve relied on for over 30 years. RECA must be reauthorized in this NDAA before it expires in just a few months. Thousands of radiation victims depend on this program to survive

I spoke at the 2023 Navajo Housing Authority’s Service Banquet Award on Friday night. I said to them, “Let’s build some homes together. Let’s work together. Let’s support one another.” When we put ourselves aside and think about the people, our work gets a lot easier.
